Should I buy PS5?
I've been wanting it since I was a kid just like I wanted an ipad. I pondered over ipad for 2 years and then ended up buying it. It has been 8 months since I bought it and it's lying discharged because I don't know what to use it for. Similarly I've been craving to buy PS since I was a kid. I like gaming but not too big of a fan and now im concerned that even if i buy PS 5 will i use it? Whats your suggestion? I don't want to throw 50k like I did for iPad. 🤐 PS: I can very well afford it so money isn't a problem. It being worth the money and I being able to use it is, and I don't know what to do
I’ll give a counter point though.
I bought it because I loved gaming as a kid up until college.
Then years went into college, job, hard work.
Now the job is demanding and I come back home to see the PS5 lying there and me having very little time to really complete any game
Even when I start something on the weekend, I quickly get bored because I know I’ll probably never get to complete it
P.S: This is just a me problem though. If you have time, go for it. It’s anyway good to have the option :)

I can relate to your situation. I always wanted to buy an iPod touch, and when I finally bought it, I got bored with it within six months. It's just been sitting in my drawer ever since. However, I also purchased a PS4 Pro, and I've been kind of hooked on it. After coming home from work, I sometimes fire it up and enjoy it, forgetting about the problems of the outside world.

Why buy? Better to take a membership of 500 month and get your games free digitally
If you are into gaming then worth buying. I think I understand where you are coming from. You want to buy but need validation from others to justify the impulse buying.
Anyways I bought it in Jan and spend a decent amount of time there. Also you should note that for consoles you need to pay for games. Eg a new release costs around 4.5-5K for PS5. Also make sure you have a tv that can support the ps5 otherwise doesnt make sense to buy console alone.
I bought sony bravia A80L and ps5 together. It costed me around 1.9L after discounts etc.
PS Dont buy it just play FIFA or NFS.
PPS - I have the guilt of under-usage as job is demanding plus I have a 4yo boy, so I can only play when he is asleep.
Dad and complete game buff here. Had a ps2, 3, 4, and now 5. I get up at 4/5 am and play couple hours before the house is up. Rogue-likes and sports games work for me (Hades, Returnal, NFS, FIFA, Cricket) work well for me where you can stop anywhere. Keep your inner child alive! Don’t kill it because of your job. Our life expands according to the time we want to spend in activities.

And its amazing!
Handheld games are great.
And games like wolfenstein 2 new colossus, doom eternal look amazing when u dock the switch to tv. You wont believe its running on switch.
Many times when we are kids we don’t always get what we want. We make up scenarios in mind that what if we buy it later when we grow up we will have so much fun. So it maybe hyped up in your brain.
However, the regret of not buying will be more than of buying. Even I got a iPad that I just use now to watch movies,to series etc but during WFH it is 10hr daily usage so I think I have sucked out all the money from it. I also wanted to buy PS5 but my circumstances are unsure for next few months so I have postponed it else, I would have definitely bought it.
For PS5 you need to spend dedicated time in playing the game, it can be a background task. You will also then want to buy a Big screen/Tv for the experience and a decent soundbar unless you like headphones.
Every games is like 2k-3k, but people get secondhand CDs for games so maybe you can get it the same way or buy latest game and sell it as soon you are done playing.
In the end what question you should ask is:
Does my regret of owning a PS5 supersedes my wish to own one since childhood?
If not, then go ahead and buy because you can afford it. But do remember, this might soon become a habit and there will always be the next thing to buy, so don’t make it a habit.
Do learn not to fall into temptations for the next new thing that comes in market. But since this was what you wanted since childhood, you can allow yourself this one time.
If you just play COD & Battlefield then Xbox is better investment but if you have any specific games which PS5 have then you can check that.
I have both PS4 & Xbox digital; Xbox performance in terms of hardware & maintenance is low. So total cost of ownership of a Xbox is pretty low.
Given the recent price drops you can get one for as low as 36k. If you enjoy gaming , it has some pretty good exclusives. Don't worry about completion enjoy each chapters.
Buy only if you have time to invest on it or else it would turn out to be same as the iPad .
I regret buying my ps4 . Hardly I get time once in a month to play .
It could be only me through but please don't but try renting to gauge on ur time investment.

That's the concern. I have a full time job + a business in parallel + a gf who needs time. Ab inke beech mein im not sure if I'll get time but I want it so badly 🌝
My close friend was in the same position as you are and one day he bought it out of compulsion.
Now he almost daily plays it for at least 15-30 mins even on workdays to cool of his mind.
I visited his home and it was a good experience to play it on a big 4k TV.
Now it's up to you. Also if you are gonna buy, then buy some titles as well at least 2-4 with one open world like GTA or something else.
Damnn soo many suggestions just for a guy confused on buying PS5... But hey! I love all the Suggestions! 👏

Does anyone a good platform we could rent it instead from?
I guess you can rent for 3 months and see if the spark is still there before going ahead and purchasing it

That's what I am considering. There's rent of 3k but if spark fizzles out in a month then I save 45k
Exactly. If possible, always rent for a couple of months before making a big purchase.
9/10 times you will realise the spark dies after initial enthu
