Should government give basic necessities to laid off citizens?

I just want to vent out! Many businesses are earning double than me and paying less than 50% of tax and yet here I am as a professional bound to pay tax. And that’s not enough, I still can get audited!

Governor of India just introduced Unified Pension Scheme for government employees. At times when it will become very difficult for corporate employees to survive after age of 40-45 in post AI world, this assured pension which was stopped after 2004 has been reintroduced. This will bring back the charm of government job which existed in 1970s-80s . In 70s and 80s, private jobs were synonymous with lack of job security. Globalization brought heavy salaries in corporate world and helped in reducing charm of govt job. Now, in 3-4 years, AI is going to cause huge change in corporate world thereby causing huge uncertainty. What do you people think?

Hi Grapeviners, in the interes of the wider community, requesting you all to kindly let all of us know if there are any safest companies to work for with decent compensation. Also, would like to know if any sector in tech is immune to layoffs and how to select layoff proof companies !!!!

Was talking to a friend of mine who got laid off early this year in January. While the org gave him 3 months salary additional to the leave encashment payment. He mentioned most of the amount was deducted in TDS as what was left for him was not even two months salary. Imagine someone who got laid off and is in dire need of money, He gets some severance from the organization and government eats majority of that as well? Absolute shitshow. IMO there should be some clauses to exempt this income from tax liability atleast in the same FY. You can ask him pay additional taxes when he gets the job but not on severance package.

On average, every Indian pays 24% of their income in indirect taxes. They in no way contribute less to a country's development than corporate folks. However, when a government announces a welfare scheme for the marginalized, everyone starts shouting "freebie. The Indian middle class is often caught between two worlds, and they can feel insecure and resentful of both the wealthy and the marginalized. If India had set up an unemployment benefit (for certain period after job loss) such as the one in developed western countries, will it be considered a freebie? Especially during the current market scenario?

Bro, you are earning. Shouldn't you just be grateful that you are not born in war torn Afghanistan or disease ridden Africa. I mean life could be so much worse. In fact, the only difference between you and the office boy is the household you were born in. If that office boy was born in your home, he probably would be as successful as you. You already won the lottery. Why not just do your part and pay the income tax so that the tax money can be used to provide a better life to those who are unprivileged. I am not excusing the corruption in the system but just find the cribbing unbearable Just be greatful
