Do we need separate community for women on Grapevine?

Was speaking to two of my friends (from GV) on this topic. One was supporting, and one against. As a fellow female on Grapevine, I think it is not necessary. If only we stop treating women as second gender, and just see them as basic humans, a lot of things will change. To let people have a safe space to voice opinions, does not need a secluded room. So many of us are unaware of problems (physical, mental, emotional) others face, this platform does a great job in bringing all at one place.

Don't think it's needed because the gender is not disclosed so don't think there is any chance of bias until someone discloses their gender.

I disagree. Every community and group of people need a space for themselves. Most men here will never understand the life of a woman and her problems, and that's not exactly their fault either. Same goes for women trying to understand men. Men have their own groups for locker room type conversations. Women mostly don't, but they probably would benefit from having their own space.

My idea was if we could have a singular platform where both (try) understand each other. Both genders have much to learn and catch up on. No point putting kids to All girls/ All boys school when you want them to end in heterosexual marriages. Same idea :)

People confuse safe space with something where they won’t see any pushback or counter for stupid opinions. I can understand being non judgmental about past experiences, but if one has an opinion about something, others would too. Wanting a separate community shows they want to dictate how others should think, behave, and communicate. See what happened to quora and their bnbr policy.

Communities are more about organising the content than creating a space. If there are more female targeted posts then maybe it’ll help those coming on the platform solely for female oriented posts - which I doubt.
