Why is Grapevine so Sanghi? Observations on political discussions here:

I legitimately find it concerning that so many Grapeviners are not just conservatives but outright Sanghis who betray their intelligence with 5th standard debate tactics or just outright hate. Some quick pointers before you come at me with pitchforks 1) I voted for Modi in 2014 but then from 2019 onwards I changed my mind (more on that later) 2) Almost everyone here belongs to the urban elite who have voted for BJP. However, the so-called educated elite feels that the everyday uneducated common man is dumb. Education does not equal intelligence (correlated yes, but not an indicator). If you don't like how a significant portion of India you never see or interact with voted, tough luck, welcome to democracy. 3) Also is this result, really so bad? It's stupid to think that the BJP as the sole ruling party is good for the country. Great for your stocks on the Sensex and MFs but not for the actual common man. They are the silent majority who make the country run and they just let everyone know that although there has been an economic boom, they have been left out. 4) Take a chill pill. The India story is still alive and well. In fact, having some diverse voices can help a democracy. Not ram-rodding bills that everyone from farmers to jobless youth hate can be good. You just have to learn to play with others & listen for once. Finally, I supported Modi because I was tired of Congress shenanigans and I supported him up to demonetisation. However, the blatant horse-trading, the weaponisation of ED, Hindu vs <insert religious minority> rhetoric and the lack of any balls to face unscripted questions in TEN years made me change my mind. PS: The knee-jerk reaction of every sanghi here is to deploy "What about X & Y", I will not respond to any of those arguments because that's just a week cop-out. Judge yourselves on your own merits, not that you are somehow less evil. Jai Hind. Jai Bharath. Aam Aadmi Zindabad.

I dont know where to put this concern Major social media platforms are ANTI HINDU and try to distort facts Are Hindu really this CORWARD Do they even care about their existence or what i am really so disappointed like we are blessed to be born in a beautiful religion of course people paint it like anything for their convenience because it's tolerable The so called educated clowns be like we are secular we are so secular that we will convert ourselves Like haven't these people learned anything from history or they are so dumb that they do not knowanything We believe in live and let live not killing people on the name of religion Being so tolerable that any outsider try to paint anything on such a pure thing I feel the hinduism is almost destroyed and modi became one of the huge disappointment Whats happening is bagladesh is a real face of islamic majority coutries why do you think there are 57 islamic nation and do you dare to say bharat will remain as it is in muslim majority. Education does not mean to demean our culture but wokes are on another level hindus are so cowards that they can not even post a story on social platform to create awareness just because others might be offendes I cannot even start on politician I agree modiji did a lot of development in few years but this diversity of ours is the biggest hurdle in everything TOO MUCH democracy , reservation I know in BD situation also it was incited by china and pak but opposition parties openly gives hate speeches on eradication of hinduism but we are so tolerable WHAT A SHAME TO YOUR OWN EXISTENCE

[Long Post] I think I understand why Grapevine works well.

It’s therapeutic because you can share different aspects of your life that you can’t talk about on other platforms. For instance, you can't criticize the Ola CEO on LinkedIn, demand justice for the Kolkata rape case on Twitter without getting a notice from the Kolkata police, or express unhappiness on Instagram because that’s not the vibe of that platform. But on Grapevine, you can do all of this and more. Funny enough, I’ve been able to analyze different aspects of my personality (and all my different personalities). My brain works a lot, I talk a lot, and I think a lot. Over the past year, I've realized I see things very differently than how society, media, or authorities expect me to. Grapevine has been a tool for understanding myself better. I can share a thought, and maybe 15 people will respond—some agreeing, some disagreeing, and a few might even call me names. But that’s okay, that’s just how they function. All part of self-discovery. Another thing I appreciate about Grapevine is that it removes the halo effect we often have. Our names, colleges, and companies are masked (some who haven't revealed them), reducing the blurring of judgments. We connect with people on a more human-to-human level. Grapevine is great if you're looking to find a partner, lover, or simply make new friends and expand your network. You can be yourself, and the people who know you here often know you better than those you meet at college, work, or even within your family.
