I was thinking, why do I learn coding when my product manager involves in every line of code I write? It feels like he's taken control of the UI designer's hand and now has control over my fingers.

4yoe Engineer turned Product Manager. It's been 8 months I joined this B2B SaaS startup as an APM. Engineering team... mostly interns. Most of my time goes into execution following up with devs. Is the PR reviewed, is the bug fix deployed. No Jira, scrum, sprint planning whatsoever.

CEO runs the whole show. Only fear driven product management. I have no idea what it means to work on vision or strategy. My career has started off with a shitty foundation. Everyday I feel like quitting. What should I do? Quit right away or wait n switch to a better company?

Here’s a brief intro about me: I’ve worked as both software engineering manager & software technical architect over the last 18+ years on various tech stacks managing backend, frontend and a little bit of cloud. In last 3 years, I have switched 3 companies. I hate my current company especially considering my precious companies. Also, I cannot go back to my organisation because of location constraint.

It’s clear that companies won’t need engineers 10 years from now. 

They’ll just need people who know what to make. Who to sell to. How to sell to. At what price. 

This will be the great commoditization of Software development

This is an L take for someone who works at Google
It is supremely obvious that SWEs are about to enter the golden era of Software Engineering. We are easily foreseeing 2x-2.5x improvement in developer productivity rate. You should go touch some grass or else you will end up becoming PM guru who shills substandard-courses to poor kids.

Product Marketing Manager

1. They are the most overpaid people in India.
2. They have no work life balance and they don't even know what it means.
3. They think they are the best at everything, but they can't do anything right.
4. They are always complaining about their job and how much they hate it.
5. They are never satisfied with their salary or benefits package.
6. They are always looking for new jobs because they think they deserve better than what they currently have.

PM as seen by Engineers: 
 1. Doesn't do anything other than throwing random jargons 
 2. Can't explain what they do other than say how they are not Program manager or something else

I've 6 years of experience in B2C sales along with GTM strategy. I've been looking out for jobs for the past 6 months and I am getting interviews but somehow nothing is working out. 
My skill set basically includes stakeholder management, GTM strategy, revenue strategy, negotiation along with some knowledge of performance marketing. 

I've done BTech and do not have a master's degree. 

I've been contemplating doing some courses but I'm confused between Program Management and Product Management roles.

It was a red flag for me already. But they had a coding round(2nd) in their 4 round interview process. Stack was Haskell/typescript. Told them I didn't know the language, they told they will give the material to study.

Never heard PMs asked to code. Anyone had any similar experience before?
