A rant: Things have become way too expensive
A decent burger or Small pizza on Zomato is Rs 300+; A coffee at Starbucks is now 450; Movie tickets are 400; the average cost of a weekend drinks and dinner with friends is above 2K; Lets not even talk about how expensive rent is right now. It feels like the cost of everything is just rising and salaries are not growing fast enough to make up for the rising costs
Uber is so expensive now I feel like skipping plans rather than booking one.
The other day I spent ₹400 just travelling about 10 kms in Mumbai.
Public transportation comes in handy, if available and viable. Hence, local. Hope the metro development is sped up further.
Going to Bangalore though is the worst. The 1.8k fare for airport to a friend's place in ORR is a joke.
Back in 2015 tinder plus costed 300 rs per month but now you need to spend 1500-2000 to get a match on bumble etc. ….. inflation is taking away everything we’ve worked hard for
Looks like Ubers have gotten pretty expensive too. Can you do something ‘bout that?
Hasn't income levels also increased recently? Won't you say it is more market correcting itself in terms of value of money than just everything getting costlier?
Though, it does widen the gap of rich and poor
Unfortunately that's inflation with crony capitalism for you. It's all over the world and not exclusive to India.
What is the average annual salary hike these days. I am getting less than 10% for past 2 years. Which is less than inflation
Is there any company which is giving hikes adjusted with inflation?
Can today's organisation can be this morally correct?

The thing is though.
My monthly in-hand has gone from 28k to 35k to 50k to 1L and so on.
But at all points of my life, I’ve felt equally broke 🥲
Lifestyle plays a major part too.

Bro/sis, go have idli, Pongal, and filter coffee from darshini. Ditch your fancy lifestyle until you manage to get a considerable raise :P

Owning a car and driving in bad traffic is becoming more comfortable than long waits and expensive cabs.
I think most of the inflation in metros is being driven up by millennials/gen-z having high disposable income, no responsibilities or commitments and low savings. People are willing to pay 70k-80k rent in Bangalore rather than owning their place.
With the slump in the hiring I wish things will be improved overtime.

I think a bit of lifestyle inflation that if cut down might help with the costs. But yeah it's true that salaries haven't been increasing lately.

breaking @op learns about inflation
If you're single and working in IT making decent money, then India is nice. You're young, can afford rent, and have fun on the weekends with your friends. But when you decide to get married and have a family, things look bleak. Affording rent and paying emi for an "apartment" because buying Land in the city you work in is impossible. On top of that buying your car and setting up a house will be on EMI's. A majority of your salary is spent paying EMI's . Then you have to manage your Job, because 90% of companies do not give you the Work/life balance you desire. When you have kids, paying for a decent school, nursery or Pre-KG is expensive. The government is doing Fk-all to subsidise healthcare and Education. Don't forget how expensive petrol is and it's only going to increase. Leave, if you have the chance. Go to any country that subsides your living (Real estate, food, education and health). India is a great country if you can figure ways out consistently make 2-5L a month. It's close to impossible to make a decent living working a corporate job. The people who talk about 20LPA packages above are only in the 1% of the country. I know so many people who chase salary packages as their life goals. It's not worth it in the end. I'll say this with my chest, Corporate India is worse than Corporate America.
