It's disheartening when you try not to harbor negative feelings towards someone, but their actions make it challenging. This little rant is regarding my recent experiences with Amazon.

As a loyal Amazon customer, Amazon has always been my first choice for online shopping. However, my relationship with Amazon has been deteriorating over the past few months.

Contacting Customer Service

Firstly, Amazon, why is it so difficult to contact you for an order-related query? Why do I have to hunt furiously for the CTA every time I need to reach customer service? And if my query remains unresolved, I have to go through the entire process again, explaining my issue from scratch. It’s quite disappointing to experience this from such a massive giant. 

Delivery Executives and Sellers

Doorstep Delivery? Prime Membership? What is the relevance of these when they do not apply to "Prime Members"?

Yes, my home is on the 4th floor without elevator service (I’m not a privileged citizen, living in Bangalore). I understand the challenges delivery executives face climbing all four floors to deliver a product. I occasionally go downstairs to collect my order whenever possible. However, last week, when I was sick with a fever and confined to my bed, I asked the delivery executive to bring the package to the 4th floor. A few minutes later, I received a message that the delivery attempt had failed. I tried to contact the delivery person, but my call was cut off.

I called Amazon customer support, and they assured me the delivery would be re-attempted and necessary actions would be taken.

The next day, I received a call from the delivery executive. Unfortunately, I was in a meeting and asked for the delivery to be made to my door again. The same scenario repeated.

Do you all think the Amazon user experience is transparent?
Can anyone help me how I can contact their customer service executive.

My Manager told me that I am not performing well and suddenly put me in PIP plan . He has already told me in September that my performance was low, and I have worked hard after that to show him. Even in 1:1s after September he has told me that I am improving. But I did not expect him to give me the pivot document suddenly. He has given a project which I was already working on and now I need to deliver it by Nov end. The L4 (front end/software engineer) tasks are not easy to achieve, but I am scared about the fact that recession is coming and this might be an Amazon way of kicking people out and even if I delivered everything he asked for, he can still decide to kick me out. So , can anyone help me with referrals and tell me what should I do at this situation?  What is the best way to survive PIP as well as prepare for interview? I am in L4 and have worked for amazon for 14 months till now.

In July 2002, Google did something crazy:

They hired a 22 year old computer science student and made him the product manager for Gmail.

Gmail engineers were shocked.

Gmail was the most important new project at Google. Its target was 10M users.

And this guy, who was just out of college, would be the PM?

But they were overruled, because Google had a bigger problem:

Product managers.

Google couldn’t find good PMs.

Co-founder Larry Page rejected all the super-experienced PMs from Microsoft, McKinsey, etc.

They talked about management and strategy and business. Larry Page hated this.

He wanted Google PMs to be technical.

Otherwise how would they work with the engineers?

That’s when a Google VP, Marissa Mayer, had an idea:

If we want PMs with technical skills and don’t care about their experience, why don’t we hire computer science students from college?

Thus, the Associate Product Manager (APM) program was born.

Brian Rakowski, a 22-year-old CS grad from Stanford, became the first APM. He was put on the Gmail team.

Brian was scared.

How could he work with super experienced, super senior engineers on a super important project if they didn’t respect him?

Marissa gave him the answer: Data

She explained to Brian that a PM didn’t give orders to engineers. His job was to be helpful to engineers.

If he had an idea, first he should do a small test on 1% of users. If it worked, he should show the test data to the engineers to work on it.

Thus, data became the centre of decisions, not seniority or politics.

The rest is history.

Gmail was a huge success.

APM program was a huge success.

The first APM, Brian, was a huge success. He’s currently the Vice President of Product Management at Google!

Don't get it. MGM is a part of Amazon, so why do I need to pay again for an MGM subscription.

Spotify being one of the most loved brands has come down to this, and no wonder! We've seen popular brands being poorly rated en masse as part of agenda driven boycott campaigns, but what we see here is more of a genuine disappointment with the product by its users with its recent update.

Assuming someone on the Product side decided to rip off all the features of a basic music player to drive growth in the form of paid subscriptions, Growth additionally will also have to handle the poor Playstore ratings as the outcome.

What do you think should Spotify start doing from here? Not asking from a user's perspective (I know we all want free music without their annoying ads) but from a business perspective.
