How did you come up with the idea for this product? What were your experiences previous to this?

So, I was a software engineer primarily into mobile application development. So during COVID I didn't had much work. So I started building an app just for my portfolio nothing serious. Released it with no expectations. Integrated amplitude just to see what people are doing (I started getting 30 to 50 downloads per day) . And turns out it was the best thing I did. Some 25-30% percentage of users had adult websites and spam websites in their blocklist. I thought I would just build a feature to block adult content specifically and add a dialog with CTA to suggest any feature and we will implement it. People liked it and started suggesting the features and that's how BlockP was built. People built this product, I was just merely implementing what they asked for. 😅

Were any cost estimates or calculations performed before building this app? If so, what is the total amount (range) you spent on the development?
How did you reach 900k?
@WryExile38 It is purely ASO and organic growth. It was mainly due to being extremely attentive to users. When they submitted any issue, I use to be fast to solve it or come up with a new feature to patch that up. Due to that, people started recommended BlockP to others on internet. So that's what worked. But It took 3 years to reach here without a penny spent on marketing. So i think its worth the wait.
