Can one ever get happy in life?

Lately I have came across a thought that anyone and everyone in this world is unhappy whether they are those who have achieved everything and those who have not.

Previously I was very competitive about each and everything in my life now slowly losing the zeal and have started questioning why and what I'm running behind and then if I get something that I desperately wanted will I be happy and the answer i got from within is a big no.

So, basically it is a false thing in itself which we call life in which we are revolving around never ending loops wanting to achieve one thing or the other only till we achieve it.

Happiness is relative in nature , sometimes person has everything in life still S/he feels unfulfilled and sometimes person has not so many things but S/he feels so fulfilled , thankful. I have learnt from this life you should be competitive, full of desires so on things but don't forget to be happier in each stage of life either you are in your growing phase or have achieved everything. No material wealth, somebody's love, friendship and vision are responsible for your happiness.this is you who has to appreciate your each battles and make yourself feel happy loved respectful and perfect into your eyes. I have no friends (have many but not one whom I can call bestie/no lover /patner or anything) but i always appreciate myself the way I'm , the way I'm building myself growing and developing. You have to accept yourself before anything your happiness is your responsibility.live your life fullest.things which are meant for you will always remains with you no matter what is the conditions or situations. They will never gonna measure your worth..So don't associate your happiness with anything
Be happy and charming. Life is beautiful.

If you have a lot of money, you’ll automatically be happy. Money buys happiness, love, health- basically everything. Screw happiness. Run behind money and happiness will follow you. If I was earning around 45 LOA at my age, I’ll be the happiest person on the entire world. Money = happiness. Have you ever seen a happy beggar or an unhappy billionaire ? Money is everything.

Had the same feeling. Talked about this with my wise elders in my native hometown. Here's what they said - " Comparison is the thief of Joy. You have achieved everything you want in life, and yet you still aren't satisfied or happy because you are comparing yourself with someone whom you see as a person living a better life than yours, even if it is the future version of you, that you wish to be. The desires are endless. No limits on wants in life. You can only become happy when you take control pursuing wants, desires and comparisons all the time. I don't recommend you stop doing them completely. They are crucial for you as they provide a purpose and motivation to live a better life, but they alone shouldn't be the driving force. Start doing this and see how your perspective of your day to day life changes. How your heart and mind starts to feel lighter, clean and clear. How this brings you peace, calm and eventually satisfaction and happiness."

I've tried my best to translate what they said in my native language to English. I hope this helps.

Thanks buddy for this, but don't you feel removing the thought of comparison the most difficult task in itself. I compare even tiniest things with others around me and at times it helps you to grow as well so removing it will stop the growth in life as well, no?

Just thought this might be a useful thought in this context, found it on LinkedIn today... Let's be thankful and appreciate the value of the life we have. Always remember whatever you have achieved will be a dream for many who couldn't achieve it. This philosophy applies to everyone including me as well. We need to draw a line to understand what gives us peace. Try to figure that out and a lot of the worries will fade away gradually. Let us not get indulged in the Rat Race... We are humans after all🙂 isn't it??

Happiness is temporary buddy. Get used to it.

It's good that you're introspective, now you can assess your goals and stop chasing those that don't really matter.

Yes happiness is a part of life and temporary, uk we actually cannot stop chasing the goals which hurt us or which we know we cannot achieve, those things are the ones that stay with us and leads to comparisons and makes one sad.

Who told you everyone is unhappy?

It means people are not entirely happy or happiness is kinda temporary.

I wrote about this a while ago:

ఆనందమె ఆనందము మనలోనుండొచ్చునది ఆనందమె ఆనందము మనసున పుట్టెడిది ఆనందమె ఆనందము మనవారికి పంచునది ఆనందమె ఆనందము ఏకాంతమునింపెడిది

Translation:

Real happiness is one that comes from us Real happiness is one that's born in our hearts Real happiness is one that we share with our people Real happiness is one that fills the void even when alone

It is totally up to you, and depends on the way you see things in your life.

It's a question that we engage in at different points in life at different levels. Buddha calls it out, and says life IS dukkha.

I like how he phrases it. He does not say life is full of dukkha, or dukkha is a part of life. He says Life is Dukkha.

We're realising after successfully chasing many mirages and still feeling empty inside. Maybe a few more lifetimes to figure it out.

This question is more or less related to the fact that humans can never be satisfied, it's a curse to be born in this vicious cycle of life and birth.
