Childhood Misconceptions

What's the most absurd thing you were absolutely convinced was true when you were little? Maybe you thought chocolate milk came from brown cows, or that your parents could see you when you closed your eyes? How long did you hold onto this belief, and how did you finally learn the truth?

I’ll go first, getting that old PSP, the one which had WiFi in built. Or maybe PlayStation 2 which was like 5k-6k back then. Now, I could get a PS5 or buy games to play on my PC, but the feeling is lost. Just like my childhood. I guess I lived a part of my childhood today. Went on a walk and had a Cornetto IceCream, which back then I didn’t have the money for and had to buy an Orange/Cola IceCream. Then, I walked around my society. Saw a few kids playing football and instantly teleported back to when I was a kid. Now that child is gone and the dream has too. But still, it feels good remembering that 5 year old me would be proud of adult me, and that’s what truly matters. 🥰

What's one thing that you look upto with curiosity, even now, like you used to do in your childhood. It could be playing Sunday matches, meeting someone special, going to a special place, it could be anything, where the interest didn't fade away with time and responsibilities.

Was having a conversation with my SO today. I think we’re probably the last generation who watched animated shows on TV as kids, as now the new trend is of “iPad” babies who watch content online? We started discussing about how the channel you used to watch as a kid tells you so much about that person. Like kids that watch Nickelodeon were so different than the kids who used to watch Disney. And the Cartoon Network kids were unhinged. 👀 Man, I don’t know how old is this audience but we used to have shows like Avatar-The Last Airbender, Kochikame, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokémon. And much before that Oswald, Noddy, Dexter’s Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls etc. What is your favourite animated show from back in the day? Would love to hear some stories. The moon is actually way more useful than the sun. Because the moon gives us light at night when it's dark. The sun only gives us light during the day when it's already bright.

Last 8 years have taught me that we are in the greatest momentum bet of this country's life time. So, don't rule out India. Build in India. Invest in India. Believe in India. There are many in this community that are complete nihilists and supremely bearish towards India's prospects. And let me tell you, for once in this country's history, being a complete maximalist on India is a bet that you will not regret. There will be a new generation of millionaires and billionaires that will be minted on new industries. So keep hustling and this country will unleash great dividends for you and your legacy.

If you ask me, the purpose of life has to be more than climbing a self-constructed ladder. Like, it has to be more than a 3BHK in a metro, with two kids, a car and a prestigious job at a faceless corporation, 2 weeks of vacation and a movie on the weekend. Isn’t this weird that, we all continue to fool ourselves? When you know nothing matters the universe is yours, and I've never met a universe that was into it. The universe is an animal, it grazes on the ordinary. It creates infinite idiots just to eat them. You know? Smart people get a chance to climb on top and take reality for a ride but it'll never stop trying to throw you. And eventually it will, there's no other way off - Rick, Rick and Morty.
