Consulting: Is the Grass really Greener?

Hello Folks, I'm currently working at Google, and I'd decided to soon quit for getting an MBA (expecting admits to IIM-A/B/C) to break into consulting, specifically MBB or even Product Management. Honestly, I'm interested in it for industry exposure, the chance to climb the ladder quickly, and, let's be real, the fat paychecks. But then I did a lot of research and, dang, it's all doom and gloom. Is the work-life balance in consulting really that bad? I'm starting to question my plans. Anyone out there got some real-world experience to share and some genuine insights? Reddit, do your magic!

Whatever you have heard about consulting is true , i have been in that industry for 11 years ( Big4). You learn a lot and also discuss solving real life problems with CXOs, and due to this and also the high churn the career progression is exceptional. Promos every 2/3 years and before you know it you are already hitting rhe ceiling. Comp is really good even when compared to Google. ESOPs are not there in early stages but hikes are in the range of 15-25 % if you are a top performer. In addition to that the glam life of travelling , staying in exotic places meeting new people. But yes WLB is gone down the drain, that is the only reason I left it to come here with a tradeoff of level and comp. So now the choice is yours
