Culture difference - BLR vs DEL vs BOM
I have been in the startup industry for a decade now, in multiple roles. I see a start difference in the general culture between these 3 cities. I myself behave very differently on the basis of where I am, maybe because of peers/friends in these cities. Can you guys objectively line out the differences you see? Can be anything like the idea of chilling out OR how people perceive salary OR loyalty OR work commute OR discretionary spending OR luxury brands affinity.
I will go first:
- People dress much better in Delhi/Gurgaon than in Bangalore and even most parts of Mumbai.
- People tend to spend more time in office in Bangalore than Delhi/Gurgaon, and offices are generally better in Blr in terms of facilities and decor etc.
- Bangalore doesn't know how to party, or at least tolerate a party. Even if a house party is too loud, people in Delhi/Gurgaon have the courtesy first to talk themselves rather than dialling 100.
- Founders/Operators in Bangalore care more about the user experience or the product being sexy, which sometimes lead to better outcomes also. But elsewhere, the focus is on transactions more.
- Car ownership is lower in Bangalore as compared to Delhi.
- People are surprisingly very accepting of the crazy high rents and crazily small houses in Mumbai, can't think of that happening in BLR or Gurgaon.
- Although the concept of workout is more popular in DEL/BOM, people in Bangalore are generally fitter on average.
- More iPhones in Delhi/Gurgaon but more Macbooks in Bangalore.

This is something a friend visiting India for the first time from the US said, and I personally agree -
Bangalore had a warmer temperature but was very cold as compared to Delhi
The moment she stepped foot in Delhi, she felt like everyone was kind, warm, hospitable, whereas in Bangalore everybody just came off as... Cold
I personally also think a lot of people in Bangalore, especially younger people, are immigrants or people who've generally been away from family, so they're more "westernised" in their way and behaviour (something as simple as not having buckets in the house) whereas in Delhi a lot of people are either native or stay with family so they have a sort of traditional/Indian family culture still ingrained
Nothing wrong with either of them, there's pros and cons of each, but just something I noticed, that's all

True that. Especially so with areas such as Whitefield. You will find people you described about Delhi if you go towards older areas such as Malleswara or Rajajinagar. So there's a fair bit of difference within Bangalore..
Visiting Mumbai was shocker finding unbelievable availability of cheap junk food in every street. I mean people in Mumbai have to walk a lot more for public transport but a lot more obese than average Indian. Also, found average mumbaikar is far more enterprising and professional than any other city.
Anyone comment on Delhi, is it the same with Kachori? Is an average masala dosa in Bangalore as unhealthy? Thankfully it is not as cheap as Vada Pav
