Nestlé’s baby food brands including Cerelac and Nido added sugar in the form of sucrose, in lower and lower-middle income countries including India — but not in the products sold in Europe or UK, according to a report by Swiss investigative organisation Public Eye and International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN).

The research was conducted at a lab in Belgium, and examined Nestlé’s baby food products from Asia, and Africa branded as Cerelac, Nido, Mucilon and Dancow. These contained an average of 3 grams per serving, and in some cases up to 6 grams. Similar products tested in the European markets showed no added sugar. A Nestlé India spokesperson has attested that the company has reduced the sugar content in the baby product portfolio by 30% over the past five years, NDTV reported. In 2022, the sales on these products exceeded Rs.20,000 crore in India alone.

Nestlé has been under the scanner in the past for similar violations in several African countries. Reports from the 1970s raised the alarms on their unethical marketing practices in an effort to push artificial feeding over breastfeeding.

Specifically a question to all the t1 tech clg grads (mainly software engineers) earning 1l+ pm out of clg with a lot of scope for growth. Post mba avg salary is 1.5l per month. 

I can understand ppl desperate for a career change and non tech ppl who are underpaid and don't really have ab option but it baffles me why well paid folks would shell out 30lakhs kr take the burden of loan just to learn how to appear smarter than you actually are instead of investing it for a meagre salary increase that can be achieved by job switches.

I'd love to  hear any insights about ppl who've already been in the space. Why u did, salary PRE post sector etc

I'd never heard this name earlier, somehow. So I looked up more. They run Varun Beverages. Again, a name I somehow hadn't heard of (maybe I'm not a very avid stock investor). 

Varun Beverages (named after his son) apparently is one of the largest bottlers for PepsiCo outside of the US
Devyani Foods (named after his daughter) handles outlets for KFC, Pizza Hut etc. 

It's super crazy how some of the most successful businesses are just things we see around us, but don't care about as much. 

I'm extremely pro startups - hyper scaling tech companies need to exist. But I think a lot of us are missing out on creating legendary businesses that are profitable on day one, just because it's a longer, not as 'glamorized' path. 

More of us need to think about this!
