We had 3 optional holidays, they removed one and made voting day as holiday 😑
What our constitution says :
Every Indian citizen aged 18 and above holds the right to vote. The Representation of People Act, 1951, mandates businesses and establishments in the voting area to declare a holiday on election day, ensuring employees receive paid leave without any deduction from their salary.
This rule applies across public and private sectors, encompassing daily wage earners and casual workers, regardless of whether they reside in one constituency and work elsewhere.

Yes and fortunately they didn't deduct any holiday. I got two holidays actually, 1 for Bangalore voting days (Whole office was closed) and 1 for my city voting day (I am currently working from Home)
