HELP ME PLEASE! My manager won't give me a holiday for Diwali 😔
My manager is asking me to be on-call on Diwali and has asked me to report in person. This is absolute stupidity. Although I will be compensated at 2.5x of my hourly pay but I would rather spend time with my family. What should I do? I have already tried to indicate that I have old parents and I want to spend as much time with them as possible especially given the limited moments I get to celebrate special occasions with them.
That’s messed up, Diwali is supposed to be left alone
What kind of a role are you in? Hourly pay?
Dunzo might be celebrating their last Diwali. So they ensuring to do everything they can to make it their best one. 😂

Drop an email looping your manager and his manager sharing your planned time off .... take it and parallel prepare to leave such toxic work culture so that atleast next year you do not have to face such scenarios

Take the money, study hard and get out.
Nobody can guarantee anything. Someone will have to support, if possible fly your parents to where you are staying take the day off on Monday after Diwali or something.
Sometimes you would have to be in your Manager's shoes. Someone important might be required for support.
But if every time you are being selected, then time to search
This shit is crazy.
I mean Diwali comes only once in a year and that is the most important festival for Hindus and in that too these guys cry.
Old parents, festival - you don't need to give so many reasons to him. You can take leave even if there is no reason. If you have courage to fight back just tell him you are not going to work on that day else work on that day. You won't find any magical solutions from others.
