May I know what is your reason to shift, usually PMMs want to shift to PM role. Nevertheless, for PMM the most important is positioning the product(the while reasoning and rationale) and messaging. GTM strategy is also required.

Hey all, I'm seeking some advice and guidance from this amazing community. I'm currently at a crossroads in my career and would appreciate any insights from those who have been in a similar situation.

For the past 12 years multiple domains like Business, Digital marketing, Ui Ux & digital transformation, lastly 1.5yrs back I had the opportunity to become a founder of a startup where I handled both product and marketing. Unfortunately, that venture didn't find PMF, but I gained valuable experience in the process.

Now, I'm considering whether to pursue a career as a product manager or product marketer.

Also i didn't borrow any salary from the startup will it have any negative effects & how to mitigate them?

Lastly based on the above background what would be the ideal package to go for?

On paper, both PMM and management consulting have some overlap in required skillsets (strong communication, problem solving, stakeholder and project management) but it is still not a popular MBB exit for consultants. Want to understand what's the industry expectation wrt PMM roles and if management consulting experiencd will be valued.

I work in a slowing industry (Ed-Tech!) in a generalist role (Project Management!) for half a decade now! You'd think I would be better positioned to deal with life! Heck, NO! 

This crippling feeling of insecurity or job loss always puts an extra stress on day to day life. I couldn't take any risks in terms of a house or a car or a big EMI purchase in life! 

What if I get laid off? Will this generalist role help in landing anything next? Do I need an MBA for that? Switching to any specialized roles will take extensive preparation with time being in short supply with family and kids! 

Seem to have been strangled in the startup world. Any cure for this?

I am a senior frontend dev (lead) with 8 years of experience. Just have a BCA degree from 3 tier college.

After years of staring at screen constantly for good 10+hrs, i want to make a move to Non Tech role like PM or Engg Manager Role.
Help with what all options do I have to make a switch- 
1- MBA from Normal xyz college will give a low yield
2- MBA from Ivy league will take time to crack and complete.
3- PMP course just for the sake of it
4- Pmp course from ISB or Keylogg to actually learn it
Currently 33 age, ctc 36lpa fixed.
Also, will I be able to get similiar ctc ?

- Currently serving as a lead product analyst, earning around 15 LPA.

Worked tirelessly to switch roles to a Product Manager position, but was denied by management and received an underwhelming appraisal. As a result, I feel that I'm not earning my true potential and feel devalued by my firm.

Hi everyone,

I came across a 36 week product management course from IIM Kozhikode (Approx 1.8 L + GST) and a 12 week program from ISB (Approx 1.4 L + GST).

Do these courses/programs help? I am interested in understanding product management better and if these courses will help me in achieving that (and potentially help my career), I might enroll in one of these 2 courses.

A bit of background - I am nearing 16 years in IT. Was primarily into Automation testing and now am a Test Manager in a big4.

I am okayish with my current salary but wouldn't think twice if a better role with better pay came my way. Also, don't mind moving from a Test Manager role to Product Management.

I browsed through the curriculum and some of the topics I am already familiar with. 
Would you suggest I enroll in one of these courses and will it help having  a certification from one of these institutes? I guess I could also read books and browse YouTube for knowledge but,I doubt that would have the same impact as one of these courses (provided they are of use and actually have good content).

Need advice: Are the product mgmt programs from IIM , ISB worth the fees?

Tier 1 MBA, 5 years of consulting plus corp strategy experience, 2 years data science exp pre MBA. Current ctc around 45.

Speaking to friends etc in the PM roles, I've developed an interest in the role. And would like to give it a fair shot. Just can't seem to figure out how. Any pointers would be really helpful.
