Lately I have been going to office often and every time I try to focus and work, some or the other person is on a teams calls talking out loudly. It was really very difficult to work for me. Just curious if you guys also feel the same way or have I just gone all very comfortable working alone at home so even a work calls of other people are annoying me?

Has the workplace become noisy due to hybrid culture ?

It can range from anything such as discounts on Uber to a free IPL Cricket match.

What are some things that would make them go "Bro I want this" or  make them "tweet" or talk about it to their friends/ work colleagues?

I have to attend 2-3 hour long zoom meetings daily.
Its basically a scrum call where I get the limelight for 15 mins and for the rest of the time , I sit idle.

In the remaining time, 
1. I watch pubg gameplay videos in mute on YouTube.
2. Surf social media on mute
3. Apply for jobs
4. Remain calm and meditate by watch my breath go in and out.

Can someone please give me more productive/ non- productive ideas to pass time.

Now why everyone is talking about benefits of working from office?
I saw post from Sunil Shetty on linkedin.

My take is, when pandemic hit companies asked employees to WFH to keep wheel rolling.
Now we know WFH can give greater control over personal and professional life(at least for me) we don’t want to go back to office.

In my opinion corporate want us to work from office cause,

- they can control our time, 9hrs in ofc, you are getting paid for time not skills.
- they want to show who is the boss here.
- Learning is key reason for WFO, bullshit, we have a lot of learning portals and traffic time can be used to learn but it is never a intention.

What you guys think?

It's only Indians who expect to be avilable in both IST during the day and attend US calls with full attention from 6-9pm. Paid peanuts for serving two timezones. The burnout is so real that even if you logout, the mind doesn't logout quick

1. You joined the corporate world 
2. you realised you need to work hard to make more money
3. you became a high performer
4. You 'exceed expectations' during appraisal
5. Yet didn't get a good hike 
6. You changed the company to make good money 
7. Now you are a high performer who makes good money 
8. You are now fired in the next round of layoff cz you make good money and the company needs to cut the costs
9. Now you are confused if you should be working hard to be a good performer or not

I can’t be be the only one, but I am surrounded by multiple people that just do not believe in async communication. They first send a “hi”, wait for me to acknowledge and then only proceed to tell me what they want. Even if it is something ridiculous like “What is the URL to access this portal?”. 

I generally am very quick with messages and from the last few months, this “hi” business is ticking me off. I decided to do some social experiment and delayed my responses to hi. 

If someone just sends me a “hi”, I schedule a “hi” to 3 hours from then. Result? People would rather sit on blockers than tell me what they want. 

I then tried a decreasing backoff. If you texted me a “hi” once, I’d respond in 3 hours. Repeat it a second time, I’d respond in 4 hours. 5 hours the third time, 6 hours the fourth and so on. 

Results? People would still rather I acknowledge their “hi” than tell me what they want.  

Some anecdotes of how “efficient” communication is:

1. A guy wanted access to a portal that I managed. He pinged me a “hi” every morning for 7 straight days before actually asking me what he wants. 
2. Another person wanted to understand git commands that can be used to solve merge conflicts. But not before pinging “hi” for 4 days, then just pulling me into a call with their manager and their manager pinging me a “hi” when I declined the call. 
3. Another person wanted an update on a ticket I closed 2 years ago. All he wanted was a change request number, which he could find using control + F on the Jira portal. He chose to send “hi”s to multiple team mates of mine when I didn’t respond. 

Ultimately, I started telling people to not just ping and disappear and that they can reach out to me. But I guess old habits die hard and I still receive multiple “hi”s.

1.EGM meeting starts at 9 am
2.Allegedly Byju/pro Byju supporter leaked the zoom call meeting.
3.Random folks joined the meeting.
4.Whistles, hooting and sharp noises for next 45 mins.
5.Participants are asked to leave: They bombard chat with “we want byjus sir”, “byju is the heart of the company”
6.Meeting gets called off
7. 4 key investors file a suit at NCLT at 1 pm
