I am new to this corporate and currently serving my notice period. I had requested an early release as it's impossible for me to work because of personal issues. I was denied the early release by my HR and director on the grounds on business loss and stuff. Now when I am not available, I inform my manager that I will not be available. Now he is asking to my apply for leaves. So my doubt is, if I apply the leaves, will it extend my LWD?

I have put down my papers. My LWD will be on 10th of Jan. I am trying to convince my manager that since I will not be part of my current team after this PI (Program Increment) which will end on 6th December, I can't really contribute that much to a new team in a month of time.
All I am asking is to reduce the NP by 10 days since we have an annual shutdown from 25th dec. But the manager is not understanding. What should I do l?

When you resign from your job, and have like for example 15 paid leaves that you haven't utilized, is the company obligated to encash those leave or use those leaves to release an employee early?

How do I put an option of notice period buyout in front of my manager? 

I have recently resigned and have a 2 months notice period. I want to get it reduced to 1 month. My manager is not willing to do it and is acting weird after I have resigned. 

Any suggestions on how to get this done??

I'm working as a BA in my current org. I'm on bench for more than 30 days and I have dropped my resignation but the HR is not approving my early release. I have an offer in hand and I need to join in another 15 days. In even agreed for notice period buyout but still that HR isn't allowing. 

It's really upsetting when we do not have any dependencies why do the HR ask to serve the complete notice period? Infact it is a loss for them to keep Billing me in bench.

Please advice what can be done here in my situation

I was working in a toxic environment, which should be a separate post, too long to explain here, tldr, I was put in pip, and then I resigned and put my notice, I like a responsible employee started finishing off my projects and tasks, giving KTs to other folks and junior. but now after this my company is saying ur lwd is 2 days from now, when in my contract notice is 2 months, HR says company has the right to waive off notice period without paying severance. What can I do currently, I don't have any job back up, so have to be unemployed for a while without any severance. Is this legally right from company sides, what possible things can I do currently?

I resigned from my current company and my LWD is on 10th Jan. The new company I'm joining gave me a joining date of 8th Jan with the clause that I'll only be eligible for joining bonus if I join on or before 8th Jan. 
My question is can I join the new company before my LWD? 
My current company is not cooperating to reduce my notice period by 2 days.
I guess the joining company did this on purpose so that they can skip on the joining bonus.
What could be done here?

I have recently put papers in my current company, which I was part of for more than 8 years. Notice period is 1 month. Also, My wife is currently in her 9th month of maternity, and I want to spend time with her. Also, I need to take the paternity leave of 5 days during notice period. Will they allow it? My company has a policy of 3days a week compulsorily coming to office. Can I skip the that during notice period? What is the worst that could happen? Will they not give the relieving letter? This is my first switch, and not sure about the process. My managers were pissed that I chose to quit here, and are not that supportive now.
Any suggestions would greatly help.

What could happen if I want to do Work from Home during Notice period?

I work for a start up and am currently on maternity leave. I am supposed to resume my work from the 2nd week of may. And My husband has to move to a different country for work. He is moving early next month.

So I will have to take care of some of his responsibilities here, while he is away from home. Having a 6 month old baby and my father in law to take care of as well. I have decided to take a break from my career and sort things out. Once my husband settles down, we will move there and then I'll start looking out for opportunities.

Now the question is, since I'm resigning during maternity leave and the project has no dependency on me. Can the manager or HR ask me to serve the notice?? Or will I be given an immediate release? 

I want an immediate release. Please advise!

here is a question, with the current layoff situation peaking cross places, in the eventuality that a company decides to let you go, is it their benovalence that they expect you to not work in your notice period or is it that they are obligated to do so?

to add context:
1 they ask you to put in your papers
2. they also offer you to continue post notice on contract (but you are obviously bumped enough to not work there!)


 what is it that one can do to get off the work from day 1 of notice period?

ps: I am hoping they are obligated but then on paper, they ask you to resign!

Director of the firm is threatening that if I take a leave, he will ruin my career.

TLDR: Due to some family commitments, I applied for a 4 day leave and my director rejected, I have to go bc it's really important and I conveyed the same to him. He said that if I take the leave, he will fire me and ensure that there are strong negative remarks citing that I'm an indisciplined employee ruining my future employability prospectus.


So I work in this startup and it's been close to a year. Due to certain reasons I was working from home in the month of November (this was discussed with the management and they granted the same). In December, due to certain reasons, I had to take two days due to medical reasons (we don't have a sick leave policy so I had to use my PLs). 

This commitment is extremely important for my family and hence I need to be present, due to the job I have barely gotten the time to attend any family events bc of their work culture and their you-cannot-use-your-leaves-if-the-reason-is-not-serious.

After I applied for the leaves, I went ahead and spoke to my manager for the same to which she said she doesn't have any issue but the leaves are always approved by the director (I think this is micromanagement). I went ahead and then spoke to the director since I had to make reservations for the same and my director straight up rejected my request. I mentioned the reason in quite detail and to which the management mentioned that they will think about it. 

A couple of days later, I went to meet the upper management for the same and the final decision was that they cannot sanction leaves bc I was wfh the entire November and I took a couple of days off in December (The leaves I'm asking here are the ones which one can take in a calendar year, I didn't ask for anything above what has been mentioned). I further mentioned that it's really important for me to be there and I will have to go to which my director mentioned that if I go, the management will fire me o
