Dont get bogged down after getting layed-off

With news of layoffs coming every day since the last couple of years i was wondering if there is anyone who has been laid off multiple times in their career Share your story here if you would like to .

To all the people who have been laid off recently, don’t get disheartened. I have been laid off thrice and every time, I got a better offer and higher salary. If you have given your 100% and still end up getting laid off the fault is not on you. I now have started believing it happens for a greater good. Things to remember is always have a emergency fund, minimum 6 months of survival money, whichever city you are working/living on. This includes everything car emi if any, home loan emi if any, children education expenses if any, sum total of each and every expenses that you incur per month. This will give you financial cushion, you will not join the first company which rolls out an offer, you will have the leverage. If you have skills you will always find the next opportunity. Note: If you fall in the category of ppl who were working in deeply funded companies with exorbitantly insane salaries defying gravity, accept the reality of the market correction settle for less and cut down on lifestyle inflation. 4-5 years experience getting 80-90L in fixed was anyways not sustainable, it would have corrected sooner or later

I used to work in a start up in Bangalore, they overhired in 2022 and overpaid the freshers, more than the experienced engineers were getting paid. To fix this put 30% of workforce on pip, laid off 20% I was one of them. 2 months later, they did open layoffs, did it again in 2 months, and one of my friends there heard the founders cracking a laugh that even the investors wouldn't have expected us to do this so fast. I joined another company, they lost the client I was hired for, and few more clients, I was told they will have to do layoffs and my name is in the list. So they asked me to resign and I refused by saying we'll consider a last working day, if I get an offer I'll resign otherwise anyway I'll have to be laid off and they agreed. This happened one month after I had joined this company ( also a startup ). So, being laid off once was already a big enough punch of reality, with an education loan on my head. I joined another company and got laid off again. Tough shit. I ended up getting an offer before my lwd. I am not from any IIT, I am not an exceptional engineer. I am very bad interviews, my resume usually doesn't get shortlisted. Sheer volume of effort I put made the impact on me getting a job. Right now I am the best job of my career, with a better management. Trying to say, it's a tough time. But you'll get through it.

I've been laidoff, searching for a job. Had stepped out for a walk and I saw my school teacher crossing the road from the other side. I, being a person who always talks to people, turned my face and sneaked away, not having the confidence to tell someone that I'm unemployed if asked. Feels bad. 🥲

I got laid off in Jan. I was a senior product analyst at a well known startup. YoE ~4 Pay was 18L + 2L variable + ESOP After months of search I landed an offer at another smaller startup which raised Series B in sept-22 They are offering me 16+2 + ESOP after looking at my payslip and I have no other offer in hand citing economic conditions. How do I go about it? I have 1 other interview going on and few with final round results pending, but uncertain if those will get offered.

Hi Everyone, I'm trying for a job in bangalore for over 6 months now, was suffering from anxiety attacks so started taking medicine. People laid off way later than me have started with their new jobs and are happy yet I'm still struggling here looking for a job, they are getting hikes and I'm just looking to get hired. Is it time that I should give up engineering and pursue other domains?? I recently laid off, sometime ago. I was privileged enough so didn't really complained about it. But what i realised is: "Everyone should get laid off once in a lifetime." Reason being you stop being emotional about your job. Some people have a habit to treat job as a the only purpose their life has. Basically job gives them the validation which they never received from anyone. Also you realize the hard truth that you are just a number. "Resource" as they aptly call you. You realize your life has many dimensions than just serving someone. Quite an experience i would say, Kuch din to guzariyen lay offs mein!
