Feeling demotivated!

I was expecting promotion this year. Someone two years junior from me gor promoted, ps different team same manager. My manager told me I am very good technically but need to grow on other aspects, did not told me what are the other aspects. He told me they will promote me once the project I am working on ends and my performance is good. Disheartened!! Worked my ass off last year, took initiatives even though no support from the team.

In my company I am handling a complex project single handedly for last 2 years. My manager promised me promotion and good rating this cycle, but as it has come, nor was I given promotion nor good rating. I was really upset and told that to manager. manager tried to explain me that he really fought very hard and he had nothing else to do. Now he is literally asking me everyday for kt on the project I have been handling and asking me to take session for other teammates on the project so that they can also help me if needed. I am smelling something fishy here. What do you think I should do ??

With appraisal conversations round the corner, wanted to know the most absurb feedback you’ve received from your manager?

I am a backend engineer, working in a tech powered fashion company. Total experience: 3.5 yrs Current CTC : 24 lac fixed, 12 lacs ESOP in 4 years I joined as a software engineer, this April I will complete 2 years in current company, but Manager saying promotion might not be possible due to current situation and less promo slots available. I have been quite a good performer last 2 years , building a crucial project from scratch and handling everything alone due to short staffing. There is sole dependency on me for that project and company has ambitious golas with that project this year. Recently got SPOT award from skip manager as well. Only talked to manager last week , although we had made a promotion action plan few months back for my promotion this cycle and I meticulously followed every points in that plan , manager doesn't seem to be fighting much for my promotion, although he always says in my face that I am his star performer. I am really upset with this. What should I do ?? Talk to skip manager? Consider switching company ? Please suggest me. Thanks. P.S : work culture and wlb is good here. Also as I have the complete ownership of the project, I learn as well.

Hey guys! I have been working as a Business Analyst for Conduent for the past 2.5 years. I'm still at the same CTC they hired me on and everytime I brought up the topic to increase my compensation etc, my manager just tells me we are looking into it and it is because of budget issues. The excuses don't stop. its not like other people who joined with me aren't promoted. they did get a 20-30% raise. Can someone suggest me on how do I deal with this situation? Should I look for another job? or should I continue to fight here for the compensation I do deserve ?

Does anyone feel hopeless? It’s a never ending cycle of chasing money and the sad part is I am not even making anything close to my peers with same years of experience. I am just disappointed, my direct manager refuses to promote me even after I have consistently told him that I want to be PM from the very start and followed pursuit for projects to highlight my skills. Yet he continues to say do the job without the money, you don’t really need the title. I understand that this is the way forward for coelevating and collaborating but it professionally hurts me if I don’t have the title. CTC: 14lpa

I have been one of the lucky ones to have made a switch to a new company just before the layoff season began. I had multiple offers at the time, but ultimately chose one where I was getting to build something from scratch in a large organization at my current designation and was also getting a good hike (20%). The offers I dropped had a better title with a team to manage. However, the options were to either take a pay cut to join a Series A company or a large organization with a known bad work culture. Off late, I'm feeling a little frustrated with the new job. I feel like I won't get chance to move to a better title for atleast a year. Since the recession period has kicked in, the new team needs to show results in order to get a promotion and the targets are quite steep for that. There is some learning that I have while building this product and that is definitely a motivation, but also feel I'm missed out an opportunity to move to next level in career. On one hand, I feel like I should have taken the pay cut to join the series A startup. On the other hand, I also feel that I should be happy that I'm getting comfortably more pay at a time where folks are having poor appraisals, pay cuts or even getting laid off. Given a choice between title and money what would you choose?
