For the folks who’ve lived in Bangalore for more than a decade

this makes me feel guilty while using bath tub everyday and having full water in my swimming pool, anyways I recycle it for the garden

As somebody who was born and brought up here, I have been a witness to a lot of water issues. It is particularly bad when the monsoon fails and the KRS level dips. This year is particularly bad with no solution in sight. We see these issues in May, but we hit this in March itself!

Water will always be an issue with Bangalore because of its geography. Unfortunately, human greed and lack of planning and forethought have complicated it. Failure to get water from the TG Halli reservoir and the death of the Arkavathy rivers have complicated matters. The Mekedatu project has run into issues as well. So, there is no solution in sight. We cannot be dependent only on groundwater!

If Sir MV had the forethought that Bangalore would need water and built the TG Halli dam along with KRS 80-100 years back, I wonder why none of the politicians or bureaucrats have planned for it in the last few years!

Born here. It has always been like this. Last decade has been better due to better monsoon and revival of lakes in Whitefield - Hosur road belt. That helped revival of ground water the only source this area.

Given the elevation of Bangalore Govt will spend limited money in pumping water here. Neither are farmers in and around very interested in giving water to Bangalore.

Bangalore's water problem can be solved only by Bangaloreans. Rain water harvesting at all apartments, revival of lakes, self awareness etc.

Till April, people will crib and whine and say they want to leave BLR. Come MAy , it will start raining, and people will start promoting BLR as awesome weather and companies will start hiring more people in BLR. Cycle repeats...

Situation is very bad.

Blame it on inefficient government, poor planning of the city and El nino.

If covid didn't happen, blr would have faced serious water crisis 1-2 years ago already. We are once again at the same brink.

Those who have money can pay for tankers but it's only promoting tanker mafias and black money now. Some of it pseudo controlled by cops and local politicians. Lake land also being claimed illegally by various parties including corporations.

All the lakes and rivers, vrishabhavati especially need to be revived. Check out million Wells project , citizens for Bengaluru, and history of other revivals.
