The number of times I've heard people say shit like 'traveling makes you grow as a person'. Someone please specify what this growth looks like because I've never experienced it.

I don't think traveling is life-changing. I think most people have a romanticized, cinema-like idea of traveling that has been exaggerated even more because of social media. 

It definitely is fun to go on a vacation. But in most cases, that's all it is -- a source of entertainment. Maybe an ice-breaker the next time you go to some pretentious party. 

Am I missing something?

It depends how & where u travel.  
  
 I will put a quick example - Someone close to me always assumed ki roads usually breakdown in monsoons because it is normal in india. Once they traveled abroad and to a tropical island where rains are very common. After seeing the roads there, first comment was - “Roads don’t break always due to rains”. So, this was a life long learning for that human, broke the mirage of road quality and execution in India.  
  
 Similarly, once I went to a 3-days long trek with a friend to inner jungles of SEAsia. We had to carry drinking water with us & took bath in flowing river. If you have seen “Iss jungle se mujhe bachao” (desi version of fear factor) was shot there. This friend of mine after landing back made a statement “yaar jisne bhi shower invent kiya hai, it’s a big gift”. Takeaway from this travel was - He was able to appreciate the simplest thing which we take for granted.  
  
 Many people learn new things about culture, practices of a new place. My personal surprise was when I traveled to Bali and saw similarities between theirs n ours practices. Helped me to go back n read about various things of empires.  
  
 Multiple such stories, so yeah, it depends!

Not an Anti India or Indian hating post but I work in sales and I’ve discovered that Indians act so entitled as if they’re some high and mighty royals who have transcended from heavens above when interacting with anyone who’s calling them after they themselves requesting for it. 

Half the times these dumb clowns can’t even articulate 2 sentences together in English and struggle to understand what you try and tell them but act like they know it all. 

We’ve got to clean up our act as customers and human beings before we make a bigger mockery of ourselves than what’s already out there. No wonder we’re categorised as the cheap hooligan crowd outside.

I have three younger cousins. They don't want to code. They have their clarity. They don't want to pursue any particular engineering stream as well. 

They want to get a decent paying job. Let's say 6-8 lpa start with a path to 15-20 lpa in 4-5 years. 

I tried advising them to not invest a lot of money and four years of time in engineering. Their family is average middle class financially. I told them that I'll advise you what all to learn like content writing, seo, data analytics etc. So do a simple course, save money and rather invest in something that matters for job. 

They did listen but did not get confidence to act. 
All three went for engineering stream. These are private colleges with tier 3ish names. Now they don't get time to put a lot of time because 8-4 is usually college time. Unlike tier 1,2 college where you get campus and a lot of freedom, the colleges usually have a lot of classes and compulsory 80% type attendance. 

Did you face similar situation? What did you advise? Do you think I was giving them right decision?

Your advice is misleading. You don't become a best in class data analyst if you can't code. SEO is a shady business and there isn't growth. Even a PU graduate can do content writing or SEO. Engineering is like a passport. You use the degree to make your career. The number of people earning 20L with 5 yoe with a non engg degree is pretty low. I empathize with the 8-4 struggle. I have seen such people, but they are still better off by doing engineering than anything else. There are other core engineering career options in non-software industry, but you will have to be competitive to secure a decent job even there. There are banking, insurance etc. Even these require people to be competitive. There is no free lunch. May be in European nations, but these won't last long.

From my experience, I see 7 out of 10 desi people working with people in the US suck at English, some despite living there for 5, 6, 7 years or even more.

 And the reason I call them mediocre is they don’t even realize how bad they are at English. They take their non-native English speaking background as an entitlement to suck at English.

What irks me more is desi people communicate with their clients & counterparts in the US but still don’t realize the need for polishing their English language skills.

“English is not my native language but I will work with native English speakers, and suck at English.” How is this fair?

I disagree with you. Many of them may not be able to correct their grammar so late into corporate.  
  
 Just understand that white people are working with desi people because they are cheap and good at their work. They don’t give two fucks about who’s speaking how.  
  
 I have been dealing with US and Europeans since last 8 years and yes my English has drastically improved but it doesn’t mean I have the right to shit on people who can’t.  
  
 Have you ever spoken with Russians or Germans or a Brazilian? They are worse in English than us and yet they are proud of that.

I and others who stammer have questions about navigating careers in big tech companies.

In multinational corporations, strong communication skills are often essential. However, how do individuals who stammer fare in such environments? How are they typically treated by colleagues and top management?

Given the challenges individuals who stammer may face in verbal communication, how likely is it for them to face rejection during interviews, despite their deep understanding of the subject matter?

In my recent interview I was rejected by a company because of the communication skill. I am not blaming the interviewer or company, because every company wants the best people who have strong communication skills and good technical skills. 

I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this issue, as well as any suggestions you may have for supporting individuals who stammer in professional settings.

I am a final year computer engineering student and am currently looking for ML engineer or software engineer  opportunities, I have done two internships, one for 6 months as a backend developer and another as an ML Engineer for 10 months, I am an excellent learner and know python, Machine Learning, deep learning, NLP, TensorFlow, django, javascript, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Go etc and I can also learn any other language or tool or framework easily, so if you have an open position or you are hiring then please consider me. I will complete my 2 YOE as a Software engineer in India. I want to go outside of India and work in USA / EU/ Singapore or any other developed nation and experience how is the life there. 

My current company is Isarel based but they don't give any opportunity like on-site. Please suggest me ways what steps should I take to achieve this.

Considering the recent layoffs from giant companies, I am considering switching within Big4 firm will be the safest option. 

What do you guys think?

Also if not Big4, what other company could be a good option?
Like Capegemini or Accenture or McKinsey etc etc???

I've given interviews and have interviewed a lot of candidates over the past few years and never really came across this scenario when neither did I not the candidates break into having a conversation in the local language during a formal interview process.

Came across one such candidate this week who was constantly breaking into Hindi within minutes after the self introduction and it got me really annoying after a point when they went full on Hindi. It was an hour long interview and TBH I couldn't sit through (lol!). I have a few questions to the community.

1. Is this really common? (location: Bangalore) How is it in the North?

2. Would you encourage someone to speak in a local language during the interview provided they have the right talent? (My requirement was for a business role and requires effective English communication. I would expect the candidate to have this basic understanding. Can't really mention good English communication required on the JD!)

3. Would you consider this either candidate's lethargy or were they trying to be friendly/strike a chord by leveraging Hindi?
