Gender-based wage gap
Does gender wage gap exist in the corporate tech world? Or is it purely performance based? What about biases in appraisals, promotions, who gets a chance to lead and all? Looking for personal insights and experiences.
Women are statistically more likely to hustle less as compared to men. It has a lot to do with the biological dispositions of both genders. There is a wage gap, but it is purely due to the additional value men bring to the table. The main issue with the feminist ideology is that although an equality of opportunity is present throughout the tech industry, an equality of outcome is demanded. Once you examine these points through a lens of logic and critical thinking, all of those ideologies crumble down. If women were getting paid less while delivering the same quality of work, every single business owner/startup founder would have an all-female tech team. The reason why capitalism works and communism doesn’t is that an equality of outcome is a majorly flawed philosophy which goes against human nature.

what additional value men bring to the table?
Additional value to the table??!! Wow. While your female family members cook, clean, do laundry AND work. Imagine if they could bring their all "to the table" too. Imagine how much more they could achieve without the mental load of a never ending grocery list, meal plans to accommodate everyone's preferences, unending chores that men may/may not help out with based on their moods.
And then imagine how much less men would achieve because they couldn't find their own damn towel in the morning.

Women aren't nearly as motivated as men to work as much. That is solely one of the biggest determinants of the wage gap as it exists. But the whole impetus is WRONG. Men get paid a fraction in the Fashion and Modelling industry and it is not for nothing. Likewise, women outnumber men in the primary to secondary teaching sector. Again, the same is true for Nursing. Men OTOH shamefully outstrip women in the construction, menial jobs sector.
All of these have deep rooted biological biases. You can read James Damore 's memo to understand a good deal of it.
ALL companies including the ones who pursue DEI are aware of these elementary facts. Yet, they actively lobby and pursue DEI policies to UP the costs significantly for small cos thereby imposing severe disadvantages upon them to sustain their own dominance. Guess where the same principle works again? Minimum wages. Cos like Amazon lobby and are vocal about raising minimum wages because small mom and pop stores can't afford them but they can.

So true. This modern world needs to understand that men and women are not equal. When men used to go to war, do risky shit like mining, women were quiet and aware that this is not their piece of cake. But suddenly, when jobs became more lavish and in AC rooms, they started talking about equality and feminism!

I haven't seen gender based wage gap in my domain. Both the genders have fair chance when it comes to oppertunities, appraisals and promotions based on their performance and other organisational factors.
Many companies now give both paternal and maternal leaves now and my company has the option to give extended WFH for new parents (both genders). There is unlimited sick leaves so people are free to take leaves at their will.
I haven’t seen a lot of wage gap but maybe because mine is a tech world where humongous level of awareness is present.
There shouldn’t be any wage gap in my opinion if the performance/output is similar. I would even say that women tend to be more committed to work if you have found the right candidate and motivated them correctly.
They have less patience but.

I think it's always been simple,
Companies are capitalistic,
You get rewarded if you add value.
There's no more argument regarding this.
It does get skewed if you take a global average.
