I have a good story for this.  
 Early on i didn't want the "flow". I steered my own vehicle, working at start-up for less pay, trying out changing tech stacks, domains, roles.  
 After 5 years of coding, devops, sre, product management, I've got crazy skills, but guess what, i don't know where to go. Since my pay was always low, recruiters take advantage. They're behind my "relevant experience". It's very difficult to explain them how tech works and the fact that most things in it are subset and superset of each other.  
 So, overall, I've got a variety of skills, nothing specialised and a low salary.  
  
 My peers who just went with whatever they got, the "flow", stuck to the techstack they got, specialised, switched and getting 25-40 ranges salary.

Sumary is Both ways we can gain something 😉.

Fir toh it depends sometimes go with the flow is conditional and sometimes it's choice. How you want to go ahead depends on you but it's not always the best idea. If you can change the things try changing else go with the flow

Is it important to run in a rat race or just calm down, go with the flow and enjoy the process

This question is to people who are in their late 20s or older.


Life shows its ups and downs to pretty much everyone. And when you are younger, living with adverse situations that impact your mental peace and health, paving your way becomes difficult. All this can lead to uncertainty about future, can make you doubt yourself and your decisions, or can make you think whether you would be able to make something of yourself or not.


If you ever felt like this, how did you handle it? What would you tell your younger self about how to navigate through these situations and feelings?

I don't know if this post would make sense, but does anyone ever wish they were less? Less competent, less "bright", less "smart"? I'm not being braggy but I am pretty smart (not book smart but smart smart) and while objectively I am doing pretty good, I just constantly feel like I'm not living up to my fullest potential!

Should I be on the lookout for a better job (the present one is fine) or preparing to study more or, I don't know, to scale and scale? It feels like everyone has such high expectations of me and I hate making mistakes, even if it is a typo in a document

The anxiety that I'll never live up to my potential becomes so crippling, it becomes counter productive and like Dr. Strange, I forseen like a 100 different possible outcomes of every decision because I can't seem to turn my brain off! Ignorance is bliss and I so wish I could be ignorant

I wanted to write something I'm proud of, something I truly believe in. But my chaotic mind won't let me. I asked myself why I struggle to be present. My brain answered, 'Because your brain doesn't want it.' Am I overthinker? We often label ourselves as overthinkers, introverts, extroverts, and so on. But are we really just those labels? We shouldn't confine ourselves to these labels for comfort. We are limitless. 

Next time you want to talk to someone, just go for it. Don't make excuses like 'I'm an introvert and I don't like talking to strangers.' It's not really you speaking; it's just that part of you that prefers staying in its comfort zone. Take the leap. We only have one life. Remember to live it to the fullest.

These days I'm kind of feeling lost. I know everyone on earth has some purpose in life and finding it is hard... I'm at a point where finding my purpose in life is a complete waste.. Every time i try to change my life style I feel I'm stuck in my past.. If it's a career I'm not in the place where I want to be.. If it's love/ relationship I'm not with that person cause things didn't work out.. Even though it's over and that person moved on and so did I but I'm still stuck in the past... I'm not sure why and how but yeah... Sometimes I do wonder what life yields me... What should I do? How to come to a conclusion and how to choose the right path and move on in my life? Was sitting and introspecting a lot of things.
One thing I came across that I am becoming more and more pessimistic in regards with career , food habits , society, and many more.

With so much uncertainty in jobs , recession , scams in exams not so much optimistic about exams.

So many food pundits giving their gyaan ke yeh mat khao , vo mat khao nahin to aisa ho jayega. Yeh khaane se heart attack rates badh rahe...

Society is just totally selfish. Still contemplating what happened in UP 😂😂.

What should I do to become optimistic. I can also not ignore these things as jo bhi hain I find some sort of truth in it..

Mobile dekhna band bhi nahin kar sakta as it will transport me to cave ages.

What do you guyz do to keep yourself "hopeful" and can say "the things which you look forward in future".

The number of times I've heard people say shit like 'traveling makes you grow as a person'. Someone please specify what this growth looks like because I've never experienced it.

I don't think traveling is life-changing. I think most people have a romanticized, cinema-like idea of traveling that has been exaggerated even more because of social media. 

It definitely is fun to go on a vacation. But in most cases, that's all it is -- a source of entertainment. Maybe an ice-breaker the next time you go to some pretentious party. 

Am I missing something?

It depends how & where u travel.  
  
 I will put a quick example - Someone close to me always assumed ki roads usually breakdown in monsoons because it is normal in india. Once they traveled abroad and to a tropical island where rains are very common. After seeing the roads there, first comment was - “Roads don’t break always due to rains”. So, this was a life long learning for that human, broke the mirage of road quality and execution in India.  
  
 Similarly, once I went to a 3-days long trek with a friend to inner jungles of SEAsia. We had to carry drinking water with us & took bath in flowing river. If you have seen “Iss jungle se mujhe bachao” (desi version of fear factor) was shot there. This friend of mine after landing back made a statement “yaar jisne bhi shower invent kiya hai, it’s a big gift”. Takeaway from this travel was - He was able to appreciate the simplest thing which we take for granted.  
  
 Many people learn new things about culture, practices of a new place. My personal surprise was when I traveled to Bali and saw similarities between theirs n ours practices. Helped me to go back n read about various things of empires.  
  
 Multiple such stories, so yeah, it depends!

I got into a startup (informal) and invested my savings and also took loan from friends and family.

It would take a couple of years to clear up but I am happy thwt I didn't let go.of the opportunity and the learnings also realised the following.
1.I enjoyed the thrill 
2.When something has to go wrong,It will
3.My priorities changed (family,health,mental peace)
4.I am enjoying what I have more than ever and not cribbing about what I don't have.

I am about to touch 40 and lose all savings(instead loans on the head) but I have never felt so calm ;)

One of my good friends had applied to a 1YoE+ opening in a well known big MNC. He was contacted by the recruiter about this opportunity. First round was screening on HackerRank. He said the questions were easy, like the smoothest cake walk anyone can have. But he faced a lot of issues with the online IDE that the platform provides and he could not complete the test in time and hence got rejected.

I too had applied for the same opening right after him. I did not face many issues in my test, but there were issues which irritated me. After giving the HackerRank test, I casually pinged him and while talking about it, I got to know that we both had got the same set of questions asked. And the fun fact was, though our approaches were a bit different(like very minor), the output obtained was the same. But weirdly, despite getting the same outputs, all my test cases passed while his had failed. How is that possible, is something both of us are wondering about RN.

I suggested him to reapply by creating a completely new profile and everything because, he's a far better developer than me who deserves this opportunity, and it's sad to see him loose such a good opportunity to work at one of the dream teams.

But he said he can't take that path I recommended because he would feel guilty about it, knowing that he already knows the test questions and would easily clear that, which feels like cheating.

I'm asking amazing people here what he should do ? Do what I said OR just let go of it assuming it was his fate ?

We have been actively applying to many openings but because we don't have more than a YoE, we have barely got opportunities coming our way. So, I suggested to him "desperate times call for desperate measures".

Friend lost an opportunity because of something he didn't have no authority of.

Here’s what I have been feeling nowadays, 
I suffer alone every night, smile during the day & tell friends only half and parents nothing so they don't worry about them.

I finally end up becoming a big ball of bottled up emotions.

I was trying to talk to my colleagues about this and no one seems to care. All they care about is their own life and that is fair.

was neglecting my mental health for long time...due to unrealistic deadlines and pressure today got a panic attack at work felt light headed and almost passed out.. currently i am not having any offer in hand so should i quit?.. don't want to my physical health to deteriorate more but i am really confused..not having any responsibility as such..having around 5 6 months corpus and can shift to my home and save more but still that uncertainty and fear is there which is making me miserable day by day

My overall education started a bit late than normal people due to my fathers transfers and school admission rules. Consequently when I applied for JEE Advanced back in 2017 i was 19.5 years old.  I got it but wasnt satisfied so dropped a year and got a better rank. I was 20.5 years old when I finally joined IIT. 
Somewhere subconciously throughout my college life i felt that I did achieve what I wanted to but really late. I know theres nothing I could do about it but this was something still killing me inside. Most of my batchmates where 18 year olds and even the ones who dropped where at most 19. 

I always wanted to pursue my masters and phd but somewhere at the back of my mind I feel I would have to go theough the same feelings again. It just kills me so much inside. 

Currently I have completed 2 years as a software engineer and I am 26 years old. 
On one part my mind tells me that I am made for much more than just an IT job and should go to academia. On the other hand it feels like I am too old for it. 

I dont know what to do. I am not able to rationalize my thoughts. I am not able to understand how can I bring myself to overcome my fears and achieve what i really want in life.
