Google Application Engineer L4
Hello Folks,
Expecting an offer at Google for application engineer L4.
What should be my expectations and how to negotiate better.
Thanks
Hi, I know this is a shot in the dark but any chance someone can give me a ballpark figure on how much I should be expecting.
This is for an L2 position as strategic partner manager, YouTube.the recruiter quoted 15 - 20 LPA
My current is 12 lpa including sign on bonus of 4L and 50 stocks allotted vesting over 4 years that currently hold a value of 8L.(Current Amazon)
Should I negotiate ? If yes, how should I go on about it ?
You can negotiate, but the team is very very toxic! Suppppeer toxic. People are dropping off from the team in 2 yr. I've worked in the team. Pathetic culture, discrimination and horrible behavior specially towards L2 folks. You can push them to get 22-25lpa and they will give because they are not able to fill the position even in the internal hiring. It's a good opportunity monetary wise. But be prepared to go to therapy post you joined. Stick with google for 2yr and then make a good jump at some other organization. Lately, youtube has because the most toxic place to work at.
Were you in mumbai office by any chance between 2022-2024 ?
Congratulations on the offer :) L2 should be: 12-13L base; 3-5L bonus; 4-5L ESOPs; and then some benefits
Got 18.5L at L2 but that was in 2020. 4 years hence, I feel starting pay should be better?
Thankyou so much !! Cannot agree more, I have to shift to mumbai for this role and the rents are crazy expensive.
Averaging 30k minimum .
Not sure how to do this, should I negotiate here ?

What are the benchmarks? Should I accept?
Heard from someone that Google is extensively lowballing new hires, providing way lesser average base pay and stock grant as compared to 2023/2022. They are taking advantage of a bad job market. Is the brand name still worth it?
