Two months ago I posted this rant on Grapevine (https://share.gvine.app/CLkpBuEqcCvrzKvx6) which I think is one of the most viral posts on the platform.

Since then I took a break, learned Vipassana, went to the mountains, read, and reflected. Here are some truth bombs that have been exploding in my head

1) There is a leadership crisis

Is it me or do today's self-proclaimed leaders just suck? Look around Grapevine: insecure toxic managers forcing people back to the office, overhiring CEOs who don't know WTF to do, and founders just abandoning ship. 

"Leaders" and founders today are about as disconnected from reality as the political class, because like politicians most of them are privileged, sheltered, and already wealthy.

2) Technological innovation doesn't mean progress. 

I couldn't laugh harder when I saw the Indus Valley report basically saying that maybe all of us VCs overestimated how much money we could make funding lending and consumer apps. 

Maybe funding lending apps that "open up credit for the poor" isn't sustainable when the rate of interest is >18%?

Technological innovation doesn't always mean real-world progress. A lot of times, it just ends up perpetuating and amplifying pre-existing inequality. 

3) Endless growth toward nothing 

Most of India's startup money comes from the West. Most of that money was just printed to repeatedly get out of an economic crisis. That's it. There was no great vision to fund the future of humanity behind all this new capital. Just Central Bankers and Presidents pressing the "Create Money" button to delay the inevitable.

I want to apply for credit cards but I'm not sure which one I should be apply for.
Can you suggest me with credit you guys use and found them useful in terms of benefits and stuff. And in general what all should I consider before choosing and applying for one.

I left my company 2 months back because I felt I hit a ceiling/reached saturation when it came to learning and the product + I wasnt fine with the biz model changes and other decisions. Hence decided to make a switch.

The people (close knit APAC team), lifestyle (events, work travel, hotel stays), them inaugurating a new swanky office today, an annual event coming up which Ive always looked forward to being part of

⬆️All this has started giving me a FOMO and I sometime start questioninng myself whether I made a right move.

I shifted to another fast growing company, good pay, great product. I am still going through my trainings/enablement. The real work hasn’t even started yet so dont see why I am questioning myself.

Not sure why am I getting this FOMO. Can you help? how do I get out of this fomo?

Seeing so many founders who doesn’t want to hire from IIT is just increasing and I fully support this.

IITs are not the super smart people that they used to be. Now they are mostly test takers and that’s it with no innovation or anything.

Using pedigree to get into jobs and raising funds are gone. IIT is not a sign for anything and the badge doesn’t matter anymore.

Good luck to my friends who actually deserve it from IIT or not. I know there are actually great people who are in IIT but just don’t make IIT your entire personality.

Arrogant IITs not getting jobs

It’s therapeutic because you can share different aspects of your life that you can’t talk about on other platforms. For instance, you can't criticize the Ola CEO on LinkedIn, demand justice for the Kolkata rape case on Twitter without getting a notice from the Kolkata police, or express unhappiness on Instagram because that’s not the vibe of that platform. But on Grapevine, you can do all of this and more.

Funny enough, I’ve been able to analyze different aspects of my personality (and all my different personalities). My brain works a lot, I talk a lot, and I think a lot. Over the past year, I've realized I see things very differently than how society, media, or authorities expect me to. Grapevine has been a tool for understanding myself better. I can share a thought, and maybe 15 people will respond—some agreeing, some disagreeing, and a few might even call me names. But that’s okay, that’s just how they function. All part of self-discovery.

Another thing I appreciate about Grapevine is that it removes the halo effect we often have. Our names, colleges, and companies are masked (some who haven't revealed them), reducing the blurring of judgments. We connect with people on a more human-to-human level.

Grapevine is great if you're looking to find a partner, lover, or simply make new friends and expand your network. You can be yourself, and the people who know you here often know you better than those you meet at college, work, or even within your family.

21M working from home as a SDE. I do live with my parents in a tier 3 city. Most of my time is just spent working on my desk. This is just depressing as I don't have many friends to hangout and even those I have are busy in their own life. I make good and can easily afford to go and live in a tier 1 city but will that be a good option leaving my parents and knowing most of my time would be spent indoors. What would you do if you were in my shoes.

When I joined my current organisation (4 years back) I held most of the responsibilities, had dependencies, was assigned a lot of strategic and interesting tasks, and very minimal operational tasks.
As the team started growing, after around 2 years, the dependencies started distributing. At some point of time certain top strategic projects were taken out of my bucket because i was operationally involved. 
Soon it became a trend, now i am at a stage where visiblity in front of the leaders is almost nothing. Most of interesting projects are assigned to other teammates. 
When communicated with my manager and head of department, they just asked me to do any project i like while keeping me neck high in operational tasks.

I am taking too much pressure for this because I know i can do more and have very less growth opportunities like this. 

Really not sure whether i shall blame myself or someone else for this for this. 
My friends generally suggest me that switch would be the right solution for this situation .

If any one of you has been through this, were you change your trajectory back or switched to another organisation?

Was thinking about our lives. Ever since you are in school, you have something to look forward to. When you’re in 1st grade, you know next year it’s 2nd grade and so on till you finish your undergrad.

Suddenly, you could be everything or nothing at the same time.

Those who are good at this game of eternal growth end up grinding their lives away in the PCM -> Engg -> B-School -> Consulting hell loop.

Weirdly, the determinism in growth fades away suddenly and you see people finally pursuing diverse fields.

Then, the realisation kicks in. You’ve been conditioned to chase eternal growth. That is what brings meaning to you in every part of your life. Today has to be better than your yesterday, or else it feels like you’ve failed.

I wonder how sustainable that is but till then we will continue to throw our youth away. 

My 2 cents: You have a brief moment in history. Don’t spend your 10 years of prime in doing things that don’t bring you any joy. Don’t make the same mistakes all of us make chasing joys because others are chasing them.

Find your own meaning to this eternal growth.

As you have already read, I am planning to start a roadmap in 2024, YES !

I am not one of those Didi Bhaiya’s doing it for Fame/money. The twist is I am planning to do it anonymously on grapevine and will try to solve as many doubts as i can on DM’s ( Again Anonymously)

I have the roadmap that is completely free, videos, lectures, notes and everything is collected from amazing creators and is already free and i will never recommend any paid course, I PROMISE.

If i get 30+ comments, then i am happy to start the Day 1 to Day 24 ( 6 hours each) detailed roadmap.

Also, since all of us here are working Mon-friday. 
The roadmap is for 12 weekend (24 days) and IMO that is enough to into Faang game preparation. If you need more you can practice for another 2-3 months on yourself.

How to get Into FAANGMULA roadmap

I am a computer engineering student from a tier 3 college in Pune. Now that I am in the last couple of months of my 6th semester multiple companies have come to our campus but I haven't gotten an internship. How do i search for internships off campus?
Are there any tips from some experienced people like what do companies look at when giving out internships. Since last month I started applying off campus using linkedin and other websites but I am not getting any callbacks for interviews or even online tests.
Previously I haven't done any internships but have done projects which I have out on my resume.
