Professors are the most frustated people I've come across. No money, no recognition.
While coaching teachers are rich and praised.
Professors ko sab man hi man gaali hi dete hai and they are look down upon.
Becoming a professor or doing PhD in India is like daily cutting youself daily 100 times with blade.
Yeah I feel bad for good profs. Then there are those bad profs that get paid 1L+ a month smh. Makes me mad
Do you mind sharing Which college / course you teach? Your experience, educational qualification etc as wel
Sure.
College: SD COLLEGE HOSHIARPUR Course taught: B. Sc. Hons Biotechnology
5th year as assistant professor
Educational Qualification: PhD (JNU-DRDO), M.Tech,B.Pharm.
7 Patents, 4 Projects. 17 pubs (2 JBC, 1 infection immunity, 1 blood, ) Recently rejected as faculty interviewee @ IIT Delhi (lack of international exposure). Rejected a similar post @ thapar and @PU because I didn't like the department.
Why I stay in my present job? This was my first Job 😊 also it's stone's throw away for me
Go do another post doc outside India then you will get in IITs and other central institutions
What motivates you to keep going? Does pay get better with more experience?
It's a fun workspace. New tasks every year. Despite being a run of mill degree program, student trajectories are unique. Guiding them to achieve their goals is my task. Happy students are my motivation.
Pay wise, it doesn't improve. Hopefully we will get the seventh pay commission recommended salaries, but expectations are derisory.
Good 👍 teaching is my dream job but lack of pay doesn't let me do it.. plus of course I don't have the qualifications.. I plan to open a school though..
Sorry to hear that people are paid so low in such a noble profession. We possibly need reforms in education
