Talked with few of my seniors working in finance/IB and tech and a few of my friends doing internships in big tech.
All of them are of the view that placements for 24 batch will be far more worse than 23 batch.Many companies have stopped expansion plans and arent expanding teams,I am mostly refering to the software/IT and finance industry here.
So my question, are the placements of 24 batch going to be worse than the 23 batch,what are your views?

what is the scene of placements of 24 batch in your college, which companies are visiting?

Why I see so much less openings for '24 batch. Is it b'coz companies are visiting on-campus now & they will fill their vacant positions after october-november. 
What do you think, when they will hire through off-campus, as in my college very few companies are visiting and mostly startups.

After seeing current placement stats of top IITs, even after Day6 not even 50% of the batch is unplaced can we say that 2024 is the unluckiest batch?

Students with good CGPA, having internships in reputed internships are not getting placed. It's worse for mediocre students.

What are alternativev for these unplaced students?

Heard from people I know at Bain that they are laying off.
This is mostly the first time an MBB is doing layoffs (earlier they would silently fire, or delay onboarding) 

A friend got impacted. Seems like this could be 10-15% of their consultants. Unprecedented.

Talked to the son of my Dad's friend recently. Brilliant kid has a good GPA from IIIT-H + 2 research internships and 1 summer internship at good companies. He still can't find a "good" company to get into. 
(Side Note: "good" implies a high paying job relative to last couple of years)

Apparently, most of his friends in other colleges are in the same boat. Massive pay correction has happened.

The undergoing rationale is that companies hired Class of 2022 with no restraint because the demand was really strong during their placement season in 2021. This appears to be directly correlated with quantitative easing in the US and a low interest rate environment that was conducive to fundraising for several Series A+ startups.

By the time Class of 2022 entered the market, everything changed and they felt some short term change. However, Class of 2023 is having a much tougher time. They are shoved into the job market in a time where demand is low and they are competing with kids who graduated last year. 

Ongoing consensus appears to be that a huge chunk of their batchmates are going to get their Masters abroad. Their hope is that by the time they graduate out of grad school, the economy will pick up and demand will be strong while they're poised to take advantage of that with bump up credentials.

Unfortunately, this also implies that many of them will end up in the CPT-OPT-H1B-Green Card hell.

This is really a tough spot to be in.

I have been in a job for 7-8 years in Corporate taxation in Big 4 and see no growth and passion. Now I want to transit to a new career line, my best step seems to be to do an MBA. What should be the best approach? Which kind of MBA? Is it realistic to do an MBA in India or can we dream abroad as well.

Currently I am in my second year from a Tier 3 college. On campus placements at my college for the 2024 batch is really worse. Few companies are hiring for sales roles etc. and most of them are putting tough eligibility criteria and hiring only few.

To be very honest, I have no hopes from on campus placements. I am going for the off campus route.
What should I do to get a decent intern in third year/fourth year and a decent job by the time of graduation?

Talking about my progress, I am doing DSA, taking part in contests in Codechef, Codeforces, and Leetcode. 
Besides that I have started learning Machine Learning. Have done only the Math part and basics though still now. Been to 2 offline hackathons.
