How did you tackle being laid off?
My contract was terminated last month citing restructuring. Honestly, I saw it coming but wasn't expecting it would hit like this I tried keeping my mind distracted, but now it has started to sink I live with parents and they aren't saying anything (they were feeding me before and still are, no change for them) I have had thoughts of ending all this, but do not have the courage. What if it ends halfway and I am redundant my whole life? Credit card bills are coming through now and being 42% of my ex-salary wasn't something I was prepared for. I thought I was a sane spender.
Keep looking around, apply and eventually you're bound to get a good job I promise you. Just treat it as a numbers game. Ask your parents help with the credit card bills if you don't have enough corpus, there is no shame in that. You can give the money back to them when you're in a better position.
You're a nice person from what I know of you in this platform, you got this sis! Ending it all is not a good option for the people who care about you, and you're probably gonna look back later and smile and be glad for making it through

Brother stop overthinking and start applying after updating your resume. Take as many referrals as possible. The market is ultra rough but keep patience.

1. Close your credit card bills asap, kill that pain
2. Start LinkedIn search, use best use of keywords + filters
3. Try talking to people, start slow but for a generalist role (remember ur resume), you need to reach out.
4. You can occasionally rant here, will make you feel lighter [ I wish you get job even before first rant]
5. Keep exercising, meditation or watever you love.
A stronger you will emerge out of this situation. Good wishes!

@BiryaniEnthu i am in the same boat as you but I promise it gets better. You scan linkedin and naukri the best you can and try to find out about companies and then check their careers page for openings. You have your whole life ahead of you and while even I get the ending things thought sometimes I try to remember how many things I want to give to myself and it passes. Just keep holding on. It will get better. December is a slump month with everyone going on holidays. Its not you, its the market and it will work. Imaging the life you will have, your happy parents, you buying a house, treating your friends. Laughing with them.
Now imagine you arent there for all of that.
Just hold on. Virtual hugs from a girl in same boat.

I went thru the same pain when I got laid off. I over blamed myself and now in retrospect it was pure illuck.
What helped me,
- supportive family (you have that. It's a blessing)
- got into a daily routine as if I was working (wake up, get fresh, breakfast, first half of day for online applications and second half mostly meeting ppl/research)
This helps a lot. You have to get into a clena zone physically and mentally for opportunities to come.
Keep meeting people. And never hide that you got laid off. They might not be able to immediately help but will come back whenever they see something that matches your profile
Brother you can get referrals through grapevine. Unfortunately the market is bad now but budgets for hiring start opening up from Jan onwards for MNCs. Keep applying and something will work out soon. Don't lose hope my friend!

Highest population and not even 1% of decent paying jobs, no unemployment benefits, no labour laws, no nothing
Can feel the same pain here.. I’m also in similar situation and do get similar feeling of ending this.
But it’s all ups and downs.
When ever I get a call or shortlisted for a interview, I get some hope and if I clear some 2-3 rounds of same company, then I start dreaming that I’ll get this job and think about from next month going back to job etc .. but after this 2-3 rounds getting rejected or no replies then I start to doubt myself on my knowledge, confidence goes down.. and keep getting thoughts on how will I run my family, how will I pay bills etc and get random thoughts of ending life or running off leaving the family alone etc..
Then again for 2-3 days if I get a call/ shortlisted or interview rounds then I get some hope back and create an expectation that least I will get this job and life will change..
and it’s goes on and on and just waiting for the one job that can change the life.
To distract try to upgrade and upskill yourself which I’m trying to do based on each interviews..
Hope one day this will Pass through and get back normal life
I am also in the same boat since
July. I cleared 3 rounds each from 2 MNCs and that too fully remote job from India and reporting to USA and UK bosses. After clearing all the rounds they said HR will discuss the rest with you..They then ghosted. I was also dejected but this is life and you need to move on. I came across people who were ghosted by companies after 9 rounds and I thanked God for not letting me sink into that self doubt mode or why me mode. Keep working towards the goal although it's tough time. Work also towards second or third income as we are living in a world where there is no job security.

Take care dude, holiday season is a tricky time. You haven't even had some time to breathe (being in NCR doesn't help heh, jkjk).
Clear your mind, make art, read a book, binge a series. Rest up, eat some gajar-halwa. Build your profile. Shortlist couple of orgs, tailor resume and portfolio. Drink hot chocolate. Reach out to Founders/Senior Staff/HMs in January. Be the first thing they see in the new year.
It's winter after all, every call is a cold call. And it does work, just takes some time. You got this! 🎉

Going thru something similar. What I did was activated my network ASAP. Told them what happened, share resume and job openings. They referred. In final stages with one company.
Market is rough, but one needs to cast a wider net. Connect with as many people as you can. It helps, people will help.
Just remember, you are not alone in this

Oye @BiryaniEnthu , buy a small game from Flippa for Android platform. Build ads, Boost about it on LinkedIn.
Write on topics as much as you can. Someone for sure will contact you for job. Don’t lose faith when it’s actually required.
This will pass, trust me. Just hang in there and never ever associate your worth and potential with a job. Life has a weird way of working out. For now, give it some benefit of doubt and keep doing your bit. Whenever you feel better, start working on a side hustle, keep applying for suitable opportunities and build your personal brand on LinkedIn, Twitter and IG.
This might sound all sentimental, but you have your entire life ahead of you. Don’t ever let a spineless manager and any soulless company take it away from you. 🙌🏻
1. What did you do in your role? - create a 3-4 line pitch about yourself and shamelessly message top management of companies hiring for relevant roles
2. Proof of Work - everyone wants assignments now a days (there was a Swiggy marketing post a few days ago) - pitch to people that you will do the assignment even before they ask - this 1) will keep you a bit distracted, 2) you will upskill yourself, 3) definitely improve your chances
3) Join a gym/workout daily
4) talk to people about your problems - once again be shameless - let them think whatever - but please let it out - till people don't know they can't help
5) dont listen to motivational stuff - doesn't work
6) cut expenses drastically - if outstanding bills are still too much - take pre-approved loans

Now what I will say might hurr but I guess you need to toughen up man.
Start by fixing your resume. Ask for referrals. I can personally say that referrals increase your odds of getting selected by 10x. There's no shame in asking for referrals. Max a person can do is ignore your message.
Next segregate the list of job posts you really aspire to crack and the ones you're OK with but not really excited about. This will help you prioritize interviews.
I don't know what your job role us but try to do mock interviews and answers for common questions. Don't be too picky, given the Job market.
Remove all distractions, keep your phone away when preparing, utilize weekends for preparations since no interviews are usually conducted on weekends.
Also, whatever you do, please do it for yourself and your parents. Always think about the love and support they have showered you with till now. As an adult, it's your responsibility to pay that back and help them in years they need your support.

Forget everything, do the grind, apply daily but apply in a sane manner. Track wherever you are applying and who you are reaching out to for referral in a google sheet. Helps in evaluating the state of job search and for following up if you don’t get a response and was expecting one. Don’t hesitate to reach out to people for referrals. Do leetcode and give mock interviews for system design(just reading through stuff won’t help). There’s an amazing opportunity out there waiting for you.
Take a day at a time. Most of us here would've gone thru this some time in our careers.
What has happened, you can't undo. Look forward. Create a simple easy to adhere to schedule...reach out to friends, family...change your profile on linkedin to open to work... no shame in walking in at companies for a role...be open for a lesser pay, junior role..
Lastly, keep applying...keep your phone charged...answer each and every call. Eat moderately. Sleep well. Go for a walk. Don't be on instagram or FB or surf porn. Upskill yourself with a course or 2, via you tube or linkedin.
