How do non IIT/IIM/top school folks get into consulting?
why do big firms not hire from normal schools? you can get internships but they don’t convert unless you have the iit tag.

It is alliance of elite, self-proclaimed alchemists who are vigilant against any inferior elements infiltrating their ranks to safeguard the integrity of their craft.

Consulting firms want top school folks so that they can market their profiles in front of of clients and win the project contract. But there are also backend roles that dont need iim/IIT degree. What you are asking is like " how can an avg/below avg looking guy get casted as the main actor in a female fantasy show like vampire diaries?"
what i’m asking is how is it fine to hire an avg/below avg looking guy to play as an extra in a female fantasy show like vampire diaries(since he’s delivering what he’s expected to) without giving him a raise or permanent role

Affluent people like art and beauty. Not farmers and construction workers unless it's for some PR campaign.

Start with analytics firms if you aren't from a tier 1 college.
I did too after undergrad. Many of my former colleagues from this company, switched to top tier consulting firms to data science/analytics roles and have now moved up the ranks. This will take a long time though. You'll get really good exposure plus travel depending on your role and the company.
A friend of mine at McKinsey who joined in 2019, travelled to 4 international cities in his first year there.
