As asked in the title. During office timings, I am really anxious to the point that I am unable to relax during lunch breaks as I am afraid I will get a message or a call that I might have to jump into. I know it sounds stupid, but I spend nearly 10 hours everyday with crippling anxiety. It has become so bad, I am considering quitting to work on myself just to get rid of this anxiety. However the Current market scenario doesn't allow me to me do this. I have asked my friends and family about this, but everyone says 'don't quit', 'work hard' Etc. I am sick of hearing this.

Mental health struggles, from anxiety to burnout, have become all too common, silently plaguing the minds of those who bear the weight of these burdens. After all these real struggles, then come the layoff's and questions: Why did you leave your last job? 

Stop office politics and unnecessary pressures; learn leadership skills first before you manage someone. This post is written in light of the recent incident where a fellow quit his job with "Dhol and Dance" to start his own venture into fitness training. I am not supporting the act or trivializing his pain. I am just trying to make the point that office pressure is real and unbreable. Be human first.

Hi Guys, I'm an SDE and I have this weird problem where I stress too much when some work is given to me which I don't understand.

Basically I'm not scared of high workload, as long as I know how to do it. Because then I know IT WILL BE DONE, I just have to work to finish it.

But when I get stuck on a problem, I DONT KNOW IF IT WILL BE DONE, I just keep thinking about it even if I close my laptop. The more I think, the more scary the problem becomes and then I start thinking if it continues and I'm not able to deliver more work, I might get fired and then during background verification for the next company, they will see I was fired and then no one will hire me. Basically my thoughts spiral out of control and make my life miserable to the point where I don't feel hungry.

If I'm confident I'm very confident, I feel like i can do any problem but when I see myself failing multiple times, i lose my mental strength

I need help and I want to improve this nature, not get stressed when things go south. Do you guys feel the same or know how to handle it

Any books or words of wisdom or thought process that you follow which helps you deal with job related work stress will be extremely helpful.

Strange work anxiety

If you mess up on a client engagement and can't finish a task properly? What happens ? What are the repercussions? I'm a fresher and I don't know what to do anymore ? Is this normal ? It's only been 7 months here , I'm a campus hire and I feel out of my depth? Seniors don't help that much as they're too busy? My anxiety is really high and I don't know really know what to do anymore.

Lately it's been really hard trying to cope up with derogatory comments and people trying to pull you down.

I build/refactored some of our codebase and things go south in terms of performance at few places. 
I realised the mistake and fixed the performance bottlenecks that happened because of me in least time possible. 

But people still look down on me on and manager keeps passing hurtful comments about the incident every now and then.

Moreover there's worse happening fellow people start blaming you for the performance of code you haven't even touched. You are just utilizing some function in your codebase written by some other person.

I don't know how to handle all this and what should I do to avoid this? 
Mistakes happen, bugs go on prod, things can break but as far as once everything stabilise, we should move on.

How do you guys deal with Office politics.

I am getting irritated with small small issues/mistake by my Team or by me.

Sorry, last year I came from a very small town to Pune. 
Here people have thick skin to all the mistakes they do, or the mistakes done by management.
Also people are carefree for any work pressure .

I have been suffering from work related anxiety for the last 3-4 months. I have recently started taking medications for it. I am supposed to move to Bengaluru as my wfh has ended. My parents think it's a good idea as it will help change my environment. I am wondering if it's a good idea to share about it at my workplace with my manager/superior. I know it's subjective, but still. Because I am worried this has started to affect my performance. Also, I am a talkative and emotional person and may end up slipping these things anyway.

Don't share this with anyone in workplace unless you really trust your manager who you know will always have your back 
  
 But please start seeking therapy regularly and actively, and do have faith in the process. You'll be available to cope with it better hopefully

I am not sure if this is the right platform or not. I am always anxious that what if I make a mistake in office. What if someone says anything to me ?
I want to do everything correct. 
This is even causing me sleep problems.
What do I think so much about office ?
I feel fundamentally I am a person who likes to be unhappy. 🥹

They have no life
They have nowhere to go
They have no one to be with
They have no passions outside work either

And they make your life hell as they become the baseline for comparison for all sorts of management from appraisal to work distribution.

Feel free to disagree with me, but I’m genuinely pissed today. How do you deal with them? I have a decent life outside work but lose most of it while trying to catchup to such people so that I don’t get fired.

How the F do I deal with overworkers?

I'm also like this brother. But why I work like this? 
 I come from a small village in India . Haven't got proper education or exposure. Not born with silver spoon and this is the only way to feed our family. We too have emotions like you, but sacrificing everything for our future and family. I strongly disagree with @Elon_Musk. Usually, only people who don't work hard do like that.

After 7-8 months at my new job, I've been increasingly anxious, affecting my sleep. I'm constantly worried about making mistakes, even when they're not my fault. Recently, my manager rebuked me for errors that weren't mine, and since then, ge has just gone silent with me and he has just sideined me. Company culture is also very toxic after layoffs and everyone just keeps on blaming each other.

Life has 3 currencies - money, time, energy. I'm running short on the last two.

I've done enough grinding in my career so far (10+ yrs). Have a family and personal issues to take care of. Whatever limited leisure time i get is spent on unwinding for the sake of my sanity, but beyond that I'm unable to devote time or energy to my family, or on self care, or any of the hundred other non-work priorities.

I'm done working 12 hr days and working on weekends as well, with a lurking anxiety of what could go wrong at the office, and how my career is shaping up. I've kinda accepted that i might not hit senior management roles anytime soon, but as long as I'm able to make a good life away from work as well, I'm not really worried about it. However, that's not also happening in the current scheme of things.

Hence, need to get into a chill company that affords me time and energy. I understand money might be not as grand. I've heard of American Express being one such place. Any other recommendations?
