How do you survive in a multiple hat role job?
Let’s suppose you’re a backend developer (not fullstack) but now you’re suppose to contribute in frontend code or you’re suppose to support a project where you’ve no idea about the product or the tech stack. Do you just somehow plan to quit or survive?
Learning frontend and backend and then contributing to your project is different thing than just being said to contribute to a project you don't really know about. If this happens too often definitely quit, perhaps your manager or someone higher up might be finding ways to make you look bad and fire.
Ya doesn’t make sense to me. I am not gonna be able to do good job at this. I wasn’t even hired for this so I am completely blindsided.
How can upper management decide to ask for owning a product which is completely new to a guy and most of it is not in the stack of the guy’s expertise.
I think someone close to the upper management working on that product fucked up and thus they are finding new scapegoat for it.
