I treat interviews like practice test to get better at them. Also world is huge with some one always in need to hire someone. That kind of mentality helped me emotionally and not mess up future interviews. 
  
  
 If i had long gap going to interviews then i most certainly lose first three. But I start getting better from 4th. Interviews isn’t just about getting prepared but also mindset.

I am a frontend developer with 1.4 years of experience. I worked in a YC-backed startup where I led their product. I have given interviews at Simpl Pay, PhonePe and many small and mid-sized startups. For Simpl Pay and PhonePe, I failed the interviews and was disappointed in myself. In small and mid-sized startups there I answered 95% of their questions perfectly, yet I was still rejected. 

I have given 9 interviews to date and have been rejected in each of them. I would say 60% of them were interviews where I answered every question correctly and felt I should have been hired while 40% were ones where I failed to answer some questions and deserved the rejection.

It has been 6-7 months that I am unemployed, learning React Native and TypeScript and going deeper into frontend technologies. I am not able to understand if this is only happening to me or if it is common in the current market.

Any guidance or advice that could help me get a job quickly would be greatly appreciated. I feel well-prepared for interviews but any additional insights you have might be beneficial.

Job Hunting Since Nov 22 (Still unemployed)

I was laid off 3 weeks ago. I've appeared for 9 companies, 7 of which were small scale companies who asked either extremely tough questions or questions on outdated technologies that I don't have experience on(.Net Developer) 
I was able to crack L1 Technical Interviews with the other two companies (MNCs) and they haven't reverted back with the result of the second round yet, saying that they'd reach out by next week. I don't trust HRs so Idk if this is a lie or not. 
The market seems tough and cracking interviews is becoming difficult by the day probably because of the sheer volume of applicants and numerous choices that companies have. 
How many interviews should I expect to give more before I land a job? Moral support dedo.

TLDR: Have appeared for 9 interviews with no success in the past 20 days. How much more time is this going to take? Need some guidance.

Recently started giving interviews and cleared a few rounds in a couple of companies. I never heard back from any of them even if I felt the interviews went well. Very frustrated because of this as I fail to understand how difficult is it to just reject or send a rejection email if they don't want to hire. I understand that companies have 100s of candidates in their pipeline but it's so frustrating to not even get any rejection mail and get stuck in a limbo.

Why do companies ghost after interviews?

Hi all, I have applied on more than 2000 job applications across linkedin, cutshort,instahyre,indeed,etc. Unfortunately I have only received around 6 interviews so far and half of them were from early stage startups. Please let me know if I am going wrong somewhere or Is this normal? I have been feeling down lately because of this. Any sort of help in form of referrals is greatly appreciated.

I was recently interviewing at a big MNC and gave 5 rounds of interviews. (4 Tech, 1 Managerial). I did fairly well in the interviews (according to me).
Got rejected in the end and received no feedback... Just a generic rejection mail.

How do you guys keep up with failures like these?
Whenever I give interviews at a good company and perform well, I tend to imagine myself as a future employee in that company and how my life would be after joining there... and it really breaks my heart when I get rejected. This happened to me few times before as well and I still have no idea how to move on from feelings like these.

Really interested to know what do you folks do in situations like these... How do you calm yourself down?

Recently gave interview for adobe sde2. It’s been a month and hr is coming up with new reason for sharing feedback and saying they will conduct one more round of interviews. 
Anyone else having such experience ?
Also is adobe actually hiring or just doing this for filling backup positions .

Hello there,

I am a regular 3.5 yr exp web dev. I joined Grapevine, just to express my inner thoughts and it's much better to be anonymous.

I got stuck in a void !!! Rn what I a getting is much less as per my experience. The daily routine seriously makes me feel I am a worthless and unskilled person. The type of person who if quits his job will never find another all because I am not good at anything. The main fight is I want to switch to some PM or consultant role but I am filled up with self-doubt and scared of thinking that I am unskilled regular labour, who has somehow gotten into IT...

Whether you call it self doubt/laziness /indiscipline things are not helping me to grow and crack a new job with a better daily routine.

Appreciate your suggestion/feedback.

But please help me and suggest to me how can I get into a technical consultant or any managerial role.

Is this a void career?

Recently, I gave an interview at this early startup in Bangalore. It consisted of 5 rounds.
- The first four rounds were technical, design, and assignment rounds which went well. I answered all the questions fairly well and the interviewer was happy knowing the answer.

- The fifth round was with the CEO - Now this was the turning point. He was more concerned about my personal situation. He asked questions like, where I live, where is my hometown, if WFO is okay for me (I was working remotely in my current company ), and where is your dad ( I said he was no more and that turned off the CEO of a company), how will you keep my mother in BLR, why your mom not living with your siblings?. And I was like "WTF man".the only technical question he asked -> "Have you ever hacked a system in your recent days?". 😂😂

After wasting more than 14 hours in the process I received a rejection mail without any feedback.

Message to recruiter - if you are more concerned about the personal situation of the candidate, please conduct a preliminary round for that.

I went through 5 rounds of interview for leading agritech unicorn. Even went to their office for the final rounds.

For some reason i got rejected.
Is there a formal way to get feedback from the panelists or hr.
Already asked hr for any type of feedback but no response.
I feel like the HR in India dont value the candidates time and effort.

Apologies if i sound like ranting but strongly feel that we need to improve our ethics value of organization.

How should we ask for feedback post interviews?

In the last 3 months, I have appeared for PM interviews for three major startups. After collectively going through 12 interviews (3 of them in person) and 2 assignments - I have nothing to show for. The position just evaporates AFTER the whole process has been done. In one of the cases, HR also collected all the necessary documents like salary slips, appointment letter from current org and the likes and asked me put down my papers over a verbal commitment. Good thing I didn't do that. 

It's so ridiculous that these so called unicorns can't even do one little hiring correctly. And how it's even possible to initiate hiring if they don't even have the clarity on whether they want to hire or not? Idk if it's the consequence of a shitty job market or it's my luck. Just feeling extremely frustrated because there's nothing I can do about it. I clear all the interviews and do the assignments perfectly - what else I can do? 

HRs don't even have the guts to apprise me proactively. They'll just stall releasing of the offer letter for weeks and stop taking your calls. One fine day when they finally decide to spare some of their holy time - it's usually a one line response: Position went on a hold, will let you know. Bye. 

Indian job market is really the worst. Absolutely zero ethics and no value for anyone's time.

Hi Grpeviners, I've given so many interviews. Qualified technical rounds for many but have been ghosted several times. Like the HR stops receiving my calls or they say at the end that sorry we want someone to join within 45 days. Sometimes they say, sorry we got some candidate from our organization and list is never ending. I feel very disheartened due to this ongoing scenario. Why is this happening to me, what should I improve in myself? Am I out of budget, notice period? Please help!

It has been 25 days since I got laid off from the startup that I was working for. I have given a few interviews. Got rejected in 1st or 2nd rounds in a few, went till the last round n rejected in a couple and haven't heard back from the HR in a few. Not hearing back, unanswered calls, delays in rounds etc. cause a lot of anxiety and impacts my confidence and preparation levels. How do I tackle it? 
Also, unable to find fresh openings in product/ strategy roles for past few days. This also adds to pressure and uncertainty.

In short, it is a very troubling phase. How do I deal with it? Need enormous help from all of you folks. Would love to hear some great thoughts / insights / hacks too.

Laid off and preparing for interviews

I am a senior software engineer with 6 + yoe mainly into backend (java and golang tech stack).

I am currently serving my notice period with no offer in hand.(my last day is April 30)

I have applied and given interviews to almost 12 companies and failed after clearing 2 or 3 rounds.

I feel that I am losing confidence in my skills when I face such rejection even though I shouldn't.

I feel like whatever answer I give during interviews is wrong and I constantly try to lookup the internet in the middle of interviews in fear of getting rejected.


Even though I know things very well I try to validate it and then mug up whatever is written on the internet and whenever a new question is asked which I haven't seen earlier where I would be required to think , i blank out.


This has never happened to me earlier.. I need some advice on how do I keep confidence in my skill and start solving things on my own.

Around a month ago, HR called to ask if I was interested in the APM role. After following up multiple times for the interview, they said the hiring manager didn't like your profile. After 2-3 weeks, different HR reached out, saying they want to conduct round - 1 for the same team. The interview happened, and I reached out to HR after 3-4 days for the next steps, but she kept cutting my calls and completely ghosted me. I reached out to another HR, and she said the feedback on the portal was that "experience is not enough."

I was pretty disappointed as while conducting interviews, HRs reached out to me so many times, but they couldn't even send an automated email for feedback. 

But it didn't end there. The HR who ghosted me called again after a couple of weeks to schedule round 1 with another team. The interview went well, and the interviewer asked me about my availability for round 2 and when I could join them, etc., saying we would try to conduct the next round soon. When I reached out for feedback, HR kept saying I'll call you later. I'm busy right now, and then they ghosted me. After following up multiple times, she said the feedback wasn't positive. 

I hoped for round 2 here since the interviewer seemed convinced and contented with my profile. Now, just because I reached out 10s of times, they told me that I have been rejected! 

How much time does it take to send an automated email? :/

Hi Grapeviners, I have ten years of work ex in performance marketing and CRM. I started job search actively from Feb 15 this year and landed first interview today. 

How bad is the market out there. I usually get hired with in 30 job applications, also I apply to the role only if 70% and above role match with my previous experience also use referrals when available.

Being a tier 3 college grad, It took me 700 applications to get 25 shortlists, and only 7 interview calls. Converted all of them.
