Metropolitan areas are usually as safe as Hyderabad or Pune etc. Don’t venture into the suburbs or rural areas (-gaon or -gram means village) and you should be good.

Are you a woman or man? If woman it’s not the safest , but yes keep in the city areas and you should be fine . For men it’s safe unless you get into a fight . The point is NCR common person is high on temper and ego . So you never know what will trigger anyone . IMO not the best place to be in if you have other options

Nahi hai safe mai gurgaon me 1 saal tha guarented bol raha hu safe nahi hai utna. Raat hote hi thoda bhi aise befikre jaise nahi ghum sakte aur pehli baat waha ke logon ke pass Paisa hai par badtameez hai bahot qki siksha nahi hai. Toh apne aapko tope samjhte hai. Ye mai sabki nahi bol raha hu, bahot acche log bhi hai par maximum aise hi hai.

Which is better?

I've been living in BLR all my life and been living in Gurgaon for about 4 months now because of company transfer. I thought BLR was bad until I came to Gurgaon.

1) The complete lack of apathy and compassion is off the charts here. People are so individualistic and small issues turn into huge fights. One example being a guy in a Fortuner hit my Hyundai hatchback from behind and screamed and made a scene when it was his fault and the guys all around supported him, I knew limited Hindi and I had to pay money to get the hell out of the place.

2) Climate and pollution: No words here. Extremely hot and polluted.

3) Rents have almost reached BLR levels or more 

4) infrastructure: I thought BLR infra was shit but roads are non existent here and streets get water logged and stays waterlogged for 10 hours even after rains stopped lol.

It feels like a dead City with no life, depressing and a concrete jungle.

Living in Gurgaon makes living in BLR seem like heaven

I'm a data science/analyst/engineer fresher from 2024 batch and have a 12LPA campus placement in Bangalore. 

I'm from a tier 2 North Indian city, but wfh will possibly limit my growth given how I'm just starting out. So I'm looking for hybrid options, preferably in Gurgaon so traveling is easy. Any leads?

The infra, schools and hospitals here are better then what i get in my area in Pune

Probably because they built buildings where lakes provided natural refuge to rain water bro.

I have been in a rewarding career in Chennai for about a decade. Came in as a fresher but now married and have 2 kids. Have an option to move to Noida now. People have this weird notion that Delhi/Gurgaon isn't safe and that the folks here are as warm as an ice cube in Antarctica. Can you believe that? This narrative has been doing the rounds for so long that it's starting to affect the migration of people to this part of the world. But let me set the record straight.

Gurgaon is the real deal. It's the city with good infrastructure and a welcoming vibe for migrants. It's like the cool kid at the party, while Bangalore has a little something called the Bangalore police. Now, these folks, they've got a unique way of welcoming North Indians – by demanding money when they hear you speaking Hindi. Yes, you heard that right.

I've had not one but two laughable encounters with them. Picture this: I'm just out for a casual late-night walk at 11 PM (because who needs sleep, right?), and out pops Mr. Constable, asking for his "fee" and insisting it's against the law to stroll around at that hour. And guess what? I'm not the only one in this comedy club. Hundreds of people have taken to Twitter to share their own hilarious stories.

Now, let's switch gears and talk about Gurgaon. It's got the smooth roads, a fast track to the airport, and apartments where you don't need to sacrifice your life savings as a deposit. It's the practical choice for newcomers.

So, in a nutshell, let's keep challenging these stereotypes and celebrate the positives of each city. Gurgaon, you're the real MVP, and Bangalore, maybe it's time for you to rethink your police's comedy night. City rivalries – always good for a chuckle!

Kaun se bubble me ho student? Golf course road pe rehte ho aur kaam karte ho / college jaate ho? 
  
 Reminds me of Vir Das. I live in 2 Gurgaons. One which has smooth roads, and other where people can’t even walk. 
  
 And yes - people here are arrogant, with zero civic sense - though that’s true for most cities in India, but def worse than Mumbai (stayed there for 10 years, hence can see the difference clearly). 
  
 Let’s not even talk about the air quality, extreme heat and cold (subjective, I know). 
 Traffic post pandemic is not smooth either. In fact people drive extremely bad, and carry a lot of ego while on the road. 
  
 Couple of good things: 
 1. Proximity to airport 
 2. Size of houses 
  
 PS : staying here for the past 4 years.

Have faced so much harrassment in bangalore from the localites. - it feels like hell.

It is all glittering buildings with goons filled in every other street.

For women, its feels pointless to stay safe here. If you don’t live in a gated society, forget about safety. Me being a man have been punched by localites once.

Anyways, our career plan :

We have experience at bigtech, now looking to start our own tech businesses. If that doesn’t workout, get back in corporate for a few years and then try again. 

We are both north indians.

Which city is the best alternative right now?



What’s important for us:
- transport should be easy
- access to cult, a few good outing spots, and smart folks around
- cheaper than bangalore
- safety, especially for women

We have no interest in partying/clubbing so that doesn’t matter.

Mumbai is expensive. 
Noida I cross out because I hear that it’s very unsafe. What about Gurgaon?

I have considered Hyderabad and Lucknow.
But few questions bother me:

- is it possible to run a startup remotely from Lucknow? If we stay in Hyderabad, will we get technical talent to hire?
- if we have to resort to coming back to corporate, at the age of 30, do they usually allow for remote option? For eg, Walmart, Google, Amazon, Microsoft etc. I don’t want to stay in blr at all. 

Please help guys.

One option is leaving India but don’t want to stay faraway from my parents.

Came to Bangalore to join an in-office role, the org and role is good. 

But coming from Gurgaon, I was not able to like the city. 

Some cons: 

- Extremely poor infrastructure like a tier 2 city 
- Every govt official is corrupt, police can harass you anywhere 
- You neither feel homely nor is there any vibe of a cosmopolitan city. Local politics will not let this city become a cosmopolitan startup hub. Gurgaon is so so much better. 

- Everyone just wants to loot money, everything is expensive. Rent is high, landlord deducting 1 month extra rent, unnecessarily high security amount, cook and maid everything is so effin’ expensive 

- Alcohol is expensive. 

- Good food is expensive 

The value of money is lesser here as compared to the rest of the country. 

I have a flight tonight and I am so happy that it’s a one way flight. 

I don’t mean to offend anyone, but bangalore can be very lonely and it has been so for many of my friends. 

Particularly ease of life is much higher in NCR and that’s why a lot of people move back. Those who feel otherwise haven’t lived in NCR so Bangalore is more of just a bubble for them.
