Independent work vs corporate job

Hi All. A question I am pondering on for sometime. Would love to know the community's point of view & suggestions :)

I am at a crossroad of 2 possible paths I can take forward in my career.

Option1 - Continue Independent work : have figured out a hustle that makes me money. Am making a 1 Cr (profit) in this right now with amazing work-life balance. i love the WLB and the autonomy. And its something i forsee running for many years . but theres no growth in this, i can scale this to max 1.5 Cr per year. The work is repetitive, and the longer I do this, the more it gets tough for me to exit this and join the corporate ladder (I am 36 yrs old right now)

Option2 - Join corporate : I can join senior management in some startup. that should be comparable to current hustle money, so no downside to that. If i choose this, good thing is I can get wealth creation through stocks, get growth in my career and keep relevant. The downside is Joining the rat race, screwing up my WLB, listening to random stuff etc.

Quite confused as to how to choose the next steps. Would love to learn from community, how would they think through this problem statement & any additional factors/points, that should also be considered.

I'm in no position to give you suggestions but with the way the economy is, isn't it a bad time to join startups?

It's always a percentile game. In good times, you are okay even if you are 25th percentile. In bad times you need to be 75th percentile. I am confident to get something in this market also

Do 1 until revenue drops by half and then go to 2

2 keeps getting tougher , the more I delay. If I wait it out till 1 becomes half, would definitely lose out 4-5 years

With the money you're currently making, you can easily setup multiple passive income sources. Can't that be scaled more?
