Investing in US Index Funds

I want to invest in UX Index funds such as VTSAX but bit unsure about how taxation and forex risk would pan out in the short and long term. Any captains who can guide?

My 2 cents. Unless your investible corpus is in crores, diversification into foreign funds is useless. The advisable investment order should be FD- bank/ post office, term insurance , apartment, landed house,, gsec, Indian equity, then last in foreign market. In that order.
Diversifiing into multiple avenues with small funds would neither help in meeting financial objectives not create wealth.

Disagree. If you are young, I have seen people go as much as 100% allocation in Indian equities till they got married before diversifying into Fixed Incoke securities/Property etc.

If you are young your aim should be to grow money and not preserve it through instruments like FD/PO schemes. This doesn't mean that you invest in equities directly, if you don't have the skills, just stick with MF.
