 So, Your manager may be letting you know this so that this shouldn't come up as surprise. (curve fitting.) 
  
 Ask specifics about what went wrong. 
 Ask what you can do before the rating cycle / next time. 
  
 If you smell bs in answer talk to your skip manager.

I joined Google early this year as an L4. In my recent discussions with my manager I was told I'm borderline between SI and MI, & I am scared that it might be in MI. 

I was told that I have enough impact in execution but design wise there are no artifacts and my execution speed is on the lower side.

Is this relatively common or did I really fuck up bad to get here? Also, considering I'm stia Noogler can I expect some slack?

I am currently a SDE-2 at a US based product company (Forte: Payments). I interviewed with Google and after all the rounds the HR called and told that I will be offered L3 only. 

The compensation will be basic Google L3 only but I am not comfortable with getting downleveled. I was expecting to get in at L4.

The review from interview rounds is positive. Should I go ahead with the team matching process and try to convince the hiring manager to give L4 / settle with L3 / leave the opportunity.

pls suggest.

I reflected back on my L4 Google interviews. Although I made minor mistakes and rectified by myself without additional hints from interviewer, they were looked upon as incapability. I wasn’t even considered for L3, though I solved all the questions with minimal hints with correct DS. Follow ups I was able to solve and discuss the right approach too.
Is this fair ?

Hi Folks,
I applied for L5 MLE at Google Banglore and completed my 3 Coding, 1 ML System Design and Googleyness & Leadership interview before mid-May.
The recruiter communicated the feedback for each round as "GOOD", not revealing the Lean/Strong-Hire counts even after being asked, saying those are for internal only.

For further process, the recruiter communicated that Team Matching could take time as the current openings already have candidates mapped for Team Matching.

I haven't been scheduled for even 1 Team Matching call.
And, on follow-ups, I get the answers "No new updates" or "Nothing so far".

Is this expected, given BLIND is filled with posts reflecting Google is on a hiring spree in Banglore?

Or is this a soft reject?

Or, to a stretch, the hiring season at Google India is over with no new openings? A hiring freeze.

I am working as SDE 1 in a good Indian startup. It's getting toxic day by day. Late night workings like 3AM and working on weekends is normalised like anything. Since I am new to IT ( no sort of politics never) and have almost 2.5 Years of experience, I am facing issues in getting credits. Last appraisal cycle in January, I was nominated for promotion but wasn't given to me, reason: you have not worked with architect and he was making decisions. In that case, architect should have been distributed tasks to us. 

one SDE3 is leading one of the projects ( not a big one ) and manager/architect is not much interested and never join any standup or retro, I have contributed immensely to that. Now since it is completely driven by sde 3 , he takes updates from us and show his work infront of seniors and director + announces like his work and seldom we get thank you in threads. Like if you did one function or wrote complete flow, for both thank you. Because of all these reasons, my work is not getting recognised. There is no one in team to help in this. 

Whenever a manager or Architect show cases some features or release, it's pretty evident that his team has done it but when a sde 3 does it, it is not the same. It conveys the message all or 90% work is done by him. 

I would like to take some suggestions from my seniors and fellow mates here.

I can't leave or switch right now due to some critical persona reasons.

Want to get some perspective here because I think it’d be valuable to hear about other people’s experiences.
This job at Google has completely destroyed my confidence and I feel so paranoid about shipping anything now.
I have made some mistakes but I have always caught them in staging or working drafts.

Here is what my manager has said to me:
- I lack attention to detail.
- I do not have drive.
- I do not have any ambition.

And the reason I have been told this is because:
I messed up a flow that the Lead PM had come up with in the first place. Then the Lead PM flips back on me and says that it would be "an embarrassment" to ship this.

I find myself immersed in a constant cycle of spending hours each day reviewing work, gripped by the fear of facing criticism or even the prospect of being fired. Despite investing significant time and effort, it seems that the only feedback I receive is overwhelmingly negative. It has reached a point where I question myself and wonder if I should have not been here at all. This toxic work environment is undeniably draining, and I'm left grappling with insane anxiety. Has anyone else faced this?

Im a tech lead and Im average when it comes to deliveries.

I was removed from a project after 5 months because of non-performance and a non-technical manager.I got a negative review in my first iCount.

I got shifted to another project within 2days.

This is my first year at Infosys which will get over in September. Current manager is also non technical and is always pressurizing. I have 9y of experience. 
There is work on weekends also mostly in this project.

I would want a work life balance project,but there is no choice of being a chooser in Infosys is what I know.

But I don't want to leave Infosys as I have made lot of switches. I want to excel but at the same time want work life balance and onsite.

YoE: 10.7 (7@amazon — SDE3 for 2.7 years)
Current designation: SDE3
Current salary : 92L + 25L stock
Location: BLR, IN 

I got a call from google for L7 role (BLR) which is staff role in India afaik. HR mentioned Payrange: 2-3Cr

I get mixed reviews from people so asking again for BLR folks: 

1. Amount of focus on coding round vs system design?
2. Amount of leet code preparation?
3. In the interview Is the focus more on leadership or knowing deeper tech nuances? 
4. What’s the payrange I can get?
5. Is google L7 equivalent of amazon L6? Levels.fyi has split so not exactly sure. 

I am looking for responses from people who have actually gone through similar experiences rather than “I heard from my sources”.

- System is self healing, you can break something and don’t care
- Deadlines are a joke
- No responsibility
- Can ignore pings and care about anything

A nightmare for career growing mindset people
- Tech island
- Hard work are all abstracted away
- Promo is too fucking complicated
- Overhired and slow growth equals to slow promo
- Politics growing everyday. Basically hunger game to fight for impact and projects

Google is not the same anymore, things are changing rapidly & soon it will be worse.

Xoogler here. I echo this so much, and it's what made me leave (was in a tech role as well) 

Google really was my dream company through life, but 2-3 months in, things really became clear (luckily I was in a startup before Google, and that was crucial to understand what was wrong there). 

- You can't really do something great, it's just mundane things on repeat 
- After the first 6-7 months on the role, you're usually not learning, because of point 1
- People are amazing, but they're not as driven as you'd expect 
- Growth is stunted 
- Promotion is the main thing on everyone's agenda (without realizing there may be better work out there) 

Ultimately, I feel it's an amazing culture and company but people have become too comfortable to realize the flaws :(

What's happening in Google?

Google is on a hiring spree. But they have reduced their compensation and are also lowballing massively.

Can someone help with what are the seniority levels of PMs at these companies?

For example - PM II at Uber is I think L4.
Just trying to understand if L4 is the right level at a certain years of experience.

PM Seniority levels in Uber, Amazon, Google, etc.

Offer : E4 175k pounds
Current: L4 56 Lakhs
YoE: 1 year 7 months

Here's what I have considered:

- Living in London is going to be costly, on an avg I'll be saving 1.2x of India.
- Meta London created a bad reputation for itself when last year it laid off people from India just 2 days after joining
- it's not worth it going from L4 to E4, I probably should switch only when getting a higher level or a big big pay bump (this is probably not a big pay bump considering the cost of living)
- I am not very good at making friends, and I have quite some friends here now... I don't just want to leave everything and be alone in a new city so far away from home.

- the only pro point I see is that..  it is London.

Do you think I should reconsider my decision?

Dude, take risk. I know staying in Google looks like safety net but You might not be able to do adventures stuff later in life. Moving to a new country, new food, new culture. You WILL meet new people. Those things can’t be bought.
