Is Salary Discussion Allowed?
In India, can we discuss our salary, compensation plan with our colleague? Is there any generic policy for the same in India location?

There is no policy as such.
Indian’s usually don’t discuss because if its lesser than your colleagues salary, the motivation to do the task gets low.

But double edged sword
If it is less than yours, you will be in awkward situation. If it is more than yours, you lose your peace
It is healthy to do it in the grps who understand there is a range of salaries. Causes heartburn - yes but also helps you keep in mind the benchmark for next appraisal discussion.
Also NEVER hold anything against a guy who is getting paid more
One of my employers (non-Indian) had great pay transparency so we got pay ranges for every level and anonymised total comp data.
Indian startups would lose their shit if asked to do so.

At my place my hiring manager asked me not discuss salary with other employees and said that only discuss salary related issues with her only.
But I would advise you not to since if you have a higher salary you can’t prevent the other person from showing tantrums and if you have a lower pay, dunno how it would affect you.
