So I am a frequent Uber Shuttle user.

I have travelled with the same driver a couple of times in the morning and very recently travelled with him for the first time in the evening while going back home.

As soon as he saw me board the bus, he turned around and smiled at me with a lot of happiness in his eyes as if he had seen an old friend.

It has been some time since this happened but I still remember his face and name since then since it is such a pleasant memory for me.

Some people are truly pure souls and I hope there are more such people in our world.

I for sure have learnt this from him.

My friend booked an Uber cab and it wasn't moving. He sent a text asking for Phone Number in the app itself. She didn't give any number at first but then he started to spam the chat asking for phone number and she thought maybe he couldn't call her for some reason via Uber that's why asking for number. So she sent her number to the driver expecting a call from him.
There was a warning about not sharing phone number in the chat which was ignored.
Just after few secs of sharing the phone number, the ride was started without even her being in the car.
She wondered how can an Uber start a ride without a pin as she needs to share the pin and she could see the car nowhere.
When trying to cancel the ride, it showed that it would charge extra money and so she decided not to cancel it yet and tried to check other options to complain to Uber.
The cab driver ended the trip and money was deducted automatically as she had online payment set up.
Although she was successful to get the refund for the same on reporting it in Uber, I wanted to know how can someone start ride without the pin being shared? What did he do with the phone number ?

Uber designers (or PMs) why are you trying to get rid of the ride search cancel button? Found a ride faster and cheaper ride on Namma Yatri but can't cancel until Uber decides it's ok to do so! 

Won't be surprised if this leads to accidental bookings and shifting the onus on the rider to pay a "cancellation" fee. 

Why chase vanity metrics at the expense of the user experience? Switchers gonna switch.

I am at my wits end. It takes 20-25 minutes just to get someone to accept my booking only for them to cancel. Almost roz ka hai! Bluesmart mein kabhi slots hi nahi milte! Ola, Uber, Rapido toh 20-25 min tak search hi karta rehta hai. Namma Yatri toh aur bhi hopeless hai! Please koi hack batao 🥲🙏🏻

Ex Ola here. Everything this guy says is sham. Ola is a shit hole. Stay away from anything Ola sells. For data point here's one: they have an employee churn rate of 50% every year (half of the company leaves every year)

Today, all of a sudden, some folks got emails that they have been laid off. There is an uncertainty around the transparency of layoffs now. It was communicated org wide last March and November when then last 2 layoffs were conducted. This time, no-one seems to know how many people got impacted and who got impacted.

Some people at head/lead/senior positions have started voluntary leaving as well. Not sure if they are being asked to leave or if they are leaving themselves.

Hard to see these things happening in a company with an amazing work culture. :/
