just like we need physical workouts to keep our bodies healthy, we need to do mental exercises to keep our brain sharp do you do any brain exercises intentionally?

Just keep learning something new. This is why hobbies other than drinking till you're shit faced is important. Whether it be doing DIY things or learning a new technology, when you learn you force the brain to make new neural links with existing information you know and the only way to keep your brain healthy is for it to constantly be creating new neural links. Else you'll become senile sooner than you think, and misconceptions you have will become your truths like uncles who believe whatsapp forwards as actual truth because they never opened themselves up to new experiences and did they same job same company all their lives 9 to 5 like clockwork and their brains can no longer form new neural connections to accept any new truths. Some hobbies other than software tech: 3D printing, DIY Electronics, Arts(Drawing/Painting)/Modeling(like miniature models), Metal Welding, Carpentary(wood working) etc. You can mix this with learning new software technologies as well in areas you dont work in currently. Sports is not a hobby as in its more physical maintenance than mental maintenance.

Easiest way is to have hobbies where you are actively engaged. Playing video games, solving puzzles, reading etc. As long as you are actively participating.
Don’t make it a chore that you don’t enjoy, as you will not be consistent then.
