Wanted to know about your opinions on same.

I could list some things which came on top of my mind -

Pros of Software Engineer job in India-
1.  Good salary
2. Folks are friendly and helpful generally 
3. Living near to family 

Cons- 
1. WLB is non existent in most private companies.
2. Pollution in Delhi NCR
3. Politics and favouritism in workplace 
4. Immense competition to get/switch job

Also considering the layoffs and difficult job market in US,
Is it worth to take a huge loan and leave all the comforts?

Confused if i should go for MS CS from USA or stay in India, how would you decide?

I have almost 5 years of experience as a software engineer in India.

Its been a long time now, that i am confused if i should go to US for MS considering i will have to take up a loan of 50 lakhs.

Also the layoffs are here, probably scenario will be good once the MS is over (May ‘24) , and i might be able to repay the loan.

It seems like a huge step and a risky one.

My motivation for US are
1. Foreign Exposure and Experience
2. Bank Balance for better retirement in India
As IT is uncertain and we never know what might happen in future.

What are your thoughts on this, what factors should i consider?

Hi,

I am currently working as an software developer (5+ years experience)with around 40LPA CTC. 

Most of the people in my circle have gone there 2-3 years back.

Now I am having a fear of missing out, I applied for a few universities and I have got an admit in MS in CS. 

Is it worth it to migrate to another country and start again at this point of my career? What is your opinion on work in USA compared to India?

I have awork ex of 5 years and work with one of the best consumer tech startups in India making 32LPA and stocks. Lately, I feel that no matter how much you make here, the quality of life isn't all that great in Bangalore with the roads, pollution and what not.

At this stage, I can't lose 2 years of my time to a masters degree and start afresh in the USA.   At the same time, I'm not sure how to find  job opportunities in US, EU or even SE Asia.

Apart from salaries, what are some compelling reasons that make you prefer US over EU/Canada inspite of immigration hurdles that's akin to walking on egg shells? What's your rationale behind not pursuing opportunities in Europe or Canada where it's possible to get a similar quality of life, lesser immigration related headaches, better work life balance, healthcare that doesn't burn a hole in your wallet, etc.

After reading replies in grapevine for dystopian policies, HR policies, work culture, companies to avoid(looks like all companies should be avoided), related questions I'm kind of regretting as I took the decision to stay back in India and not pursue masters abroad to live with my parents.

Given how pathetic the work culture is in almost all the startups(I'll go with 99.99%), politics and poor work life balance and living in a country where I don't get any tax benefits even after paying 30+% direct income tax, is it really worth living in this country anymore ? I'm feeling very sad, looks like I missed the opportunity to go abroad as I'm 25 now. Only my love towards my parents is holding me back since they both are around the age of 60 and I don't want to be the son who will make crores of money abroad and not be with them in case of any emergency. I'm don't want to leave them alone. Looks like there is no hope working in India. 😔
