Meta Initiates Layoffs Across WhatsApp, Instagram, and More
- Meta is laying off employees across various departments, including **WhatsApp**, **Instagram**, and **Reality Labs**.
- The layoffs are part of smaller cuts coinciding with team reorganizations, not a companywide layoff.
- **Jane Manchun Wong**, known for reporting on unannounced app features, is among those laid off.
- The company is realigning resources with long-term strategic goals and location strategy, according to spokesperson **Dave Arnold**.
- This follows a series of layoffs in the Reality Labs division and the layoff of 21,000 employees in 2022 and 2023.

firing someone in forbes 30 under 30 is crazy
Forbes 30 under 30 is a fraud list though as they don't do much due diligence

Yeah, there are two options, meta will ask for discounts from contracting firm, so folks hired from these firms will not get hikes.
Or they hire them as contractors and don't renew the contracts.
The new growth cycle is 18 months as you get 2x capable model every 18 months

I thought Jane is a “valuable resource” as they call it. If good talent has no chance, I wonder what is in store for the average employee
