My manager is leaving me out of key meetings

Have recently started noticing a bunch of times that my manager leaves me out of meetings where key decisions are taken, related to the work that I only have done.

I get to know this because I stalk their Google Calendar. It’s just weird. I’m not insecure or anything, I’ve been mostly rated well. It’s just odd.

This just didn’t happen before and lately has started. Anyone faced this and knows how to address it?

This behaviour could either be your manager taking credit for your work or preparing for your absence.

How's the runway and funding scenario? Has your org had any layoffs? Could they be planning one?

Definitely. And when something will break, he/she'll call you. So don't document every tiny bit on confluence XD

There are three cases that can happen at this point:

  1. Your manager might be trying to take credit for your work.
  2. They might be bringing another person into the team and your manager might be giving KT (overview)
  3. Related to 2, there might be upcoming layoffs again.

My advice here is to assume the best, have a chat with your manager and ask about upcoming projects and show enthusiasm. However, prepare for the worst and start looking elsewhere.

Its quite possible that the manager is trying to evenly distribute responsibility.

Ive been there and i know its easy to assume the worst.

Have an open conversation with your manager if required.

Best case scenario: you are prepared for the worst and come on top. This anxious feeling can be a good friend

Manager keeping me in his shadow

My manager goes into meeting without me a lot of times. Later he comes and explains me what needs to be done. It makes me feel like his assistant. If this continues, how will I make a presence of my own in front of the stakeholders? Ulti...
