I have close to 3.5 YOE as a software engineer. I am thinking of starting to prepare for interviews. Before joining my current org, I  was a good/average coder on CP platforms. I want to restart this again, but am overwhelmed with 100s of resources. I want to start CP, frontend, backend and system design. Are there any resources which you have used while preparing for SDE2 interviews. Even if you have resources for one of the above topics, please add in the comments as it might help someone. Hi , can folks here guide steps /suggest how to get SDE role at entry role . I regret giving 2 yrs a career for the civil services exam. I graduated with BTech in  2021 . If I had only sat for college placements at my Tier 1 college, I wouldn't have been living with regrets. I have been doing projects in the MERN stack . I also have skills like Postgresql, Trpc and am familiar with using ORMs and type validators like Zod . Since I had no previous experience at internship or full time , no companies are shortlisting my profile .

Hi guys, I have been into development for almost 5+ yrs but had never been into DSA Preparation. As after such time I have been trying to learn DSa thoroughly but the topics seems very difficult some time or I forgot things had to visit again and again. These things making it very difficult to maintain consistency and regularity in learning. At times it feels to leave the thought of applying at faang. Have any solutions or similar issues?.

Preparation Tips For SDE3

Hi folks,
I recently got laid off from a startup where 50% of the engineering team was let go. I was working as an SDE and during a restructuring, my role was changed to SDE-2 without any increase in pay or responsibilities. I have a total of 2.5 years of experience. In my first company (where I worked for a year), there weren't many projects, so I didn't have the opportunity to learn or code much. However, in my second company, I primarily worked on the backend using Go, Django, Kafka, MongoDB, & PostgreSQL.
I realize that although I gained exposure in my second job, I didn't delve deeply into the technologies. I mainly focused on completing business tasks quickly, learning new things just to finish the task at hand, without solidifying my understanding afterward.
My experience seems suitable for an SDE-2 role, but I'm unsure if I can perform the role with complete honesty and may struggle. Some friends in similar situations reassure me that this struggle is common in SDE-2 roles. However, I feel I might be better off starting again as an SDE-1, focusing on my weak areas, and aiming for a promotion later. There are very few SDE-1 job openings currently.
I am actively interviewing for SDE-2, and not able to clear system design interviews. Tbh, I feel very humiliated as when I am not able to answer their questions it feels like I am wasting their time or they would be thinking: Oh this guy has been working for so long and doesn't even know anything.

Now I get it why people think Indian Software engineers are not that good in comparison to other countries' devs: the reason is people like me. 
This realization burdens me with guilt, occupying my thoughts constantly. However, I am confident that I can crack SDE-1 easily. I have good DSA & good enough LLD, &HLD skills for SDE1. I am looking for companies who can match my prev Salary: 22 L, 2 Bonus.
Can u help how to navigate this career situation effectively without increasing my guilt or feeling constantly humiliated?

Laid Off | Stuck Now | Too Anxious | Please guide

First work on the feeling of humiliation and self worthlessness. Don't ignore this, I've done it and it's one of my biggest regret. Working on this will feel a waste of time initially given job search is highest priority, I assure you your future self would thank you.  
  
 Now you are clearly very self aware, most incompetent people don't even know their shortcomings. And you know what, many comparatively incompetent people are making much more money, having much less self doubt and just living more - it's like being more self aware is a curse.  
  
 How do you get out of this curse? It's a slow process. Write down the things that make you feel that way, come up with an an action plan on what you could do to reduce that - clear goals and actions always relive anxiety. Writing things down is extremely important, keep coming back to it whenever you feel the same way, eventually you would reason your way out of this. Most of the time you are in a loop, living in guilt and self doubt for the same reasons over and over. Documentation of these feelings over time will make it look so silly, how could the same problem give you so much mental pain again and again.  
  
 You will do just fine career wise. With a few more years of experience, I can guarantee you will evolve over time, the problems giving you so much mental pain would seem very trivial then - that if you are able to resolve these feelings - otherwise it's a hell I wouldn't want for my worst enemies.  
  
 Some questions to ponder over -  
 1. Can you do the job search while being just a little gentle on yourself? 
 2. Does failure mean you have no worth? Can you fail more gracefully?  
 3. Does 2.5 years of mistakes(even if it see that way) mean you can't do amazing things in coming years? 
 4. Above all, does feelings of humiliation and worthlessness help you in any way? If nothing else changes, wouldn't it be better to just be a little gentler on yourself? 
  
 Take care, you don't have a career problem, a mental health one instead

SDE 2 interviews vary quite a lot from company to company and so it confuses me on what to focus on, can senior folks please guide?

- WEB DEV OR CORE ENGINEERING SKILLS

I have 6 YOE as QA. First 3 years I was into manual testing and now since past 3 years, I am an SDET with tech stack- python, pytest , playwright, selenium. I am planning for the job switch now. I have not used much of DSA in my work. However I understand DSA is a must to clear interviews.

Tips for Freshers: Preparing for SDE2 for Full-Stack roles

I'm working as a Frontend developer (SDE-1) with 1.5yoe, I joined this startup 4 months back. Earlier I was getting paid 9lpa and later I was offered 12lpa without even asking for my previous compensation. I accepted because my earlier organisation was very toxic. Now coming to the point, 

I came to know that for the same level and same role they're paying 16+lpa. And this is making me mad at them. 

Within 3 months I'm handling 1 of their 2 products (customer facing) all alone. And I'm doing great work tbh (not boasting) but if they have 10 major features. I have developed 4 of them all alone, solved really critical down time bugs and improved the product. 

Now I own this product and if any bugs come, I'm the person who's assigned the work.

I want to have a chat with the Founder but I'm not sure what to say and he's a guy who will try to save the money at all costs. 

I'm really mad at this point of time and I'm planning to leave in a few months. 

If I have a chat with him and he says something harsh, I will resign then and there I'm triggered to this level. 

And there was no kind of appreciation from them, I'm taking most tickets during the sprints and delivering quality code, communicating well and thinking in terms of product, if there is anything which can be improved I ask from them.

How do I have a chat with him and what do I say?
Current CTC - 12lpa
Expected CTC - 16 - 20lpa
YOE- 1.5 (planning to have the call around 3-4 months later), so I will be almost 2 yoe by then.

Pay disparity in my startup.

You are being paid 75% of what others are being paid at the same level. 
  
 Reduce your inputs by 75% to achieve fair parity (no. of tickets or work hours or whatever). 
  
 Use the saved time to prepare for your job switch.

After another round of layoffs at my company, I am realising I would like to be prepared with my skills in case I am booted out at any time and also to apply to companies and see if I get a good role somewhere else. 

Right now, I work as a data analyst, yes but there is not a lot of tech skills required for my role. I use SQL and Excel and the rest of the analysis is done pretty much in a business context. 
It is more of a strategy role with data analysis support. My current role also requires me to take up certain projects which require DS but such projects have not come up as they were not required for the business. 

I want to prepare for a DS/DA role tailored with strategy. 
I need some guidance on what I should start with and if you guys will be kind to also direct me to good sources to prepare stuff from.
