Currently focus and go for campus placement, that will give you a safety net and an option to go to if you don't get an off campus job. 
  
 Once you land a job on campus then keep trying for off campus (office, remote, hybrid whatever you want). If you get anything which you like then go for that otherwise you'll have an option of on campus company at least.

Hello Grapevine folks,

I am a 4th year CSE undergrad student from tier 2 college. 

I have done internships at various small startups all remote and also have freelancing experience.
But now in dilemma because of my expectations from me. The companies coming in my college for placement are not very big and not offering much . Mostly offer package in between 5-15 lpa .

For off-campus I am not that confident that I will pull through it , As the no of applicants are very high and have CP experience, ICPC all that stuff but I dont have that.

Another option is to go for remote Jobs in small startups. But they will not pay much . And do their experience matter?

I have a fear of not getting a good company and and being left out 🥺.

I'm a final year CSE undergraduate at VIT CHENNAI. So my college placements started in july week 1 . At the start of it there were big companies like phonePe Google Zomato Paypal WorkIndia and many others mostly 20lpa + package companies.
Most of these would give out criteria for 9 pointers so I wouldn't get shortlisted, my CGPA isn't super bad it's 8.68 but still it hurt a bit being left out of these good companies because of cgpa.
Now it's October 
Many companies have come and gone and I'm still not placed 
Sometimes it's because resume isn't shortlisted 
Sometimes my branch isn't shortlisted (I'm in a cse specialization course) sometimes i give exams and they go good but I dont get shortlisted further. Sometimes college net doesn't work while giving a test on campus. Sometimes company doesn't activate test link for some kids and I'm that unlucky guy . 
So after all of this , I'm heartbroken and depressed. I don't know what to do, where to look for off campus jobs or anything.
Placements in my college carry on till jan next year probably, but it hurts seeing random people get selected over me even though I've done better academically etc .
Do you guys have any advice/tips for me
What should I do?
How should I go look for jobs off campus 
Or how to prepare for placements 
Anything might be helpful so please do comment .

Currently I am in my second year from a Tier 3 college. On campus placements at my college for the 2024 batch is really worse. Few companies are hiring for sales roles etc. and most of them are putting tough eligibility criteria and hiring only few.

To be very honest, I have no hopes from on campus placements. I am going for the off campus route.
What should I do to get a decent intern in third year/fourth year and a decent job by the time of graduation?

Talking about my progress, I am doing DSA, taking part in contests in Codechef, Codeforces, and Leetcode. 
Besides that I have started learning Machine Learning. Have done only the Math part and basics though still now. Been to 2 offline hackathons.

Second year CS undergrad

Hello everyone, I am an ML Engineer Intern and have been doing full time internship since past 1.5 years, will be completing one year in June at current company, so the thing is I will be graduating in 10 days and the company is still not talking about PPO, so what should I do now? I don't have another offer as I did not sit for on campus placement because no good companies were coming and I am earning more or approximately equal to most of the companies paying for full time in college.

Now I am a bit scared as I will be graduating and still don't have a full time offer, I am the guy in college where everyone used to tell that I will grab the highest package and here I am in this uncertainty whether I will get full time offer from current company or not. I have worked very hard, even worked late nights and even on weekends and still they are bot talking about PPO and I am applying off campus but there are not many openings for freshers or 2024 graduate even though I have more practical knowledge and skills, so what should I do now, continue as an intern till I get full time or what should I do? I know Python,  ML, DL, NLP, tensorflow, pytorch, django, javascript, GO, Docker, linux and I am a very good learner too. So if anyone of you can help then it will be good, I have posted before also on this platform but have not received any help, though got couple of referral but they were of other profile or required  more experience and hence got rejected without even an OA. So please refer me or give advice what should I do next?

Software Engineer

I am a final-year CS student and will be graduating this June. I have been doing internships since 6th semester. In my first and second year I used to code like 9 to 10 hours a day and learn new skills and thanks to that I was able to grep an internship in start of 6th sem and since then I am doing internships and its been 1.5 years and I have done 2 internships, one as an backend developer for 6 months and another as an ML Engineer for 10 months and I am still interning over here and I have learned a lot and have worked on many amazing projects, now the problem is my current company told that they will give me full time offer if they receive the funding in April or may and HR told me to consider this as no and now the CEO of my previous internship called me and asked me if I am willing to join there for full time and I told him I am waiting for the offer from here and he told me that he will try to match the offer but I don't want to join the older company as there the culture is toxic and I also don't have other offer to negotiate as I did not sit for on campus placement as I am getting paid more as an intern(50k per month) then the full time offers the companies are giving on campus. Now in 2 months, I will be graduating and still, I don't have full-time offer now I feel like all the sacrifices I made in my first and second years went in vain, all the hard work, consistency, missing parties and trips all these things now makes me depressed, where did I go wrong and what should I do now?

Need advice from seniors, please help

Final year undergrad here (Tier3). Have applied to over 800 places (offcampus) as of now, but no luck. 
I happen to grab an offer oncampus which is of 4lpa with 2 years of bond. Now im skeptical about it, whether or not to join it. also im kinda desperate for some bucks in my bank. Any suggestions on what steps i should take?

I am an engineering student from tier 1 clg, with very low cgpa. My chances of getting those high paying jobs is very low as I don't code and the only options left for me is analyst and pm. 
Please suggest me how should I prepare for off campus placements/ internship as I have no idea that how are they different from on campus placements

I am currently in my third year studying computer science and I am confused about what to do next. Here are some quick points about my profile:

- Strong GitHub profile
- Part of Google's summer of code 2023
- Built some interesting projects (tech stack: typescript, postgres, redis)
- I have studied a fair bit of High Level Design (System Design)
- I have a decent leetcode profile (500 questions mostly medium and Hard) (1800 contest rating)
- I also have strong CS fundamentals (DBMS, oop, CN)

I am currently getting interviews from startups but they want 6 month interns and I cannot do such a long internship right now with college. I am only available for a 2 month summer intern (which most startups don't want). I am from a Tier 2 college and we do have some good companies come for placements but I'm not sure about the scenario for next year.

Any tips or advice on what I should focus on? how I should prepare? what kind of companies I should target?

Advice for a third year engineering student

Can anyone help me with a sde or frontend or backend developer role I'm a 2024 passout worked in a startup for 10 months. Here's my skillset C,c++,Java, Javascript,Nodejs, SQL, python , a little bit of react, 
I mostly worked on list views, redirection , data modelling using mongoose 
I worked on a project where the pharama companies can request their new license or renewal their expired license seems easy but need to pass through various checks including government and different users so how to handle all these were too hectic 
So please anyone who is ok to refer me with a decent package is appreciated.

I am currently in my 4th year of Btech CSE and doing a 6-month internship in a fintech company

Here I don't get to work on real projects just time waste tasks and empty assurances that one day I will get

In FOMO, I did grind leetcode and also got a job but never been able to become very good at it

I started doing projects (MERN) after work, on weekends it feels great to do projects but the thing is that I get limited time  and the projects do not appear a big deal to anyone as I am making them on my own (No to " tutorial hell") gradually process of learning 

So my question is should I quit my job and develop my skills in MERN and other tech as I still have btech left it will not appear as a gap 

Also, I have 2-3 product ideas in my mind that I can work on

My current salary is 42LPA. I am from IIT, have 7 years of experience and work in product. Honestly, my value in the market is higher than what I’m being paid but I am very demotivated to optimise for that. When I do see less deserving people minting more money, I feel that I am doing injustice to myself and playing the wrong hand.

More and more though, the thought of earning more money chokes me a bit. I have dreams of building something of my own - that gives me control to build something my way and freedom to live my life as per my terms. But the mindset of “zyada paisa pareshaani hai” doesn’t leave me.

My family also is not dependent on me and whatever is needed from my side, I actively contribute to. I also lack any motivation to focus on my investments and see my money grow. I just have money sitting around in my bank account purely for nothing

I also look at my lifestyle choices from time to time and go into existential debate of why we need the things that we do. This has come to a point where I really do not understand my relationship with money and why we earn and spend it. 

For me at this point, it’s just a show for the world. There’s very little that you need, and really no limit to what you want to show. And I just don’t see a point in it anymore.

 I get the trouble you face. When you’ve almost figured out what you like and what you don’t like (that money isn’t thaaat needle moving, I have basic needs) but at the same time, the opportunity cost of relaxing is too high - everybody from your batch will remind you of how far you can go, and the middle class boy in you will find it difficult to stomach letting go of all the money, even though you can make it  
  
 Went through this at one point. I have ultimately sided with money. I cannot sit back and relax. Money will only unlock a lot of foreign travel and good lifestyle for me. But more than that, I am lucky to be in a position that allows me to earn money easier than other people do. So I’ll make it, help extended family and people who cannot earn as easily, because at least in a country like India, it’s almost a responsibility. We’re not fucking Europe. 
  
 I’ll just not kill myself for it as much as I used to :)

Hello I'm 22F a 4th year student from a tier 3 college. I got placed on campus in a very small scale startup for 6.5 lpa but the internship period was of 9 months at 15k per month in blr. Now they have announced that they won't be giving PPO to us. My internship is ending in March 2024 before that I need to get into a new job. But all the openings are low paying i.e. 3 or 4lpa jobs and I'm in doubt with my DSA skills. I need someone who can mentor me on this path. I've worked on mostly Java, Springboot, Automation testing and C++. 
How should I prepare along with my internship in this 2 months?

I am a final year student and will be graduating in may and I am now confused because I have been doing internships now for more than a year, first internship was of 6 months as an backend developer and now second internship is still going on and this March 3 I will complete 8 months here as an ML Intern, and now my current company which is a startup has told that they will think about my PPO when they will raise series A in April may and they have hired many senior engineers and have expanded the than to size of 40 and now I have got an another intern position at an YC startup, so what should I do, should I join there as an intern considering the stipend is same which is ₹45k  per month and it is also remote but the problem is I will be graduating and I don't have a full time offer, I do have skills but still not having an full time offer bugs me, what should I do please? give some advice.

Need Advice, I am confused.

I am a 2023 cse grad, I am a bit demoralised, I feel I did not achieve what I aimed for even after large amount of grind and great profile, I aimed for placements in mncs but still got ghosted, I have around 600 applications in different tech companies, Should I aim to leave IT after few years or be patient to let market bounce stronger?

What should I do?

When we hear a person is from X IIT or NIT,we think they are smart. Irrespective of how he performed after he came into IT field or any field, he will still be treated on the top. His tag is for his life time. Jo diktha hain vo biktha hain as what people say, If you see he's from IIT or NIT, you will hire him. I was thinking this is not the case if you work hard you can beat them, intelligence is what matters etc etc all this is bull shit. Get a good IIT/NIT tag and you will be life time settled. Every jump you make people will see ur degree college subconsciously value you if you are from tier 1. 

Considering all this , since this is case with colleges, i feel if you are from google, Microsoft or such big tech other companies will blindly have faith in you. I mean again sane logic. 

My question - To have stable IT job, should i try to first get into big tech, and then even if i get laid off i feel i will be valued for my ex Company and then i can grab new offer. 

Should i do it ?!!! Btw im 25M fed up with this competition and i need some stability in life.
Forgive me for English, its 12:28AM and these thoughts are disturbing me.

I’m currently a final year CSE student pursuing my 6-month internship at Amazon. I don’t know if I’ll get PPO after my internship or not. Heard that our seniors from the 2023 batch were not offered PPOs after their 6-month internships. 
Would want your views on if I should start applying to other companies on the side as a plan B. Also, on-campus placements at my college aren’t looking that good this year in terms of the packages being offered. I’m looking for any off-campus openings for the role of an SDE at the moment, if any. International roles are welcome.

I was persuing cse from a decent college in pune . In my last year i.e.2023 , I was placed in a startup in pune with CTC 5 lpa but it had bond of 2 years ,so I rejected that offer .I ended up getting my college placement account banned because according to them I was already placed ,so I started looking for jobs off campus,but I never thought it's going to be this hard to look for jobs off campus. Applying to multiple companies in a day ,resume getting rejected and then applying again .for some where I get shortlisted, they keep on asking questions from things which are not even mentioned in my resume although their jd don't even mentioned those skills .In some companies where my interview was 10 on 10 (according to me), still they rejected me and when asked they used to say ,they found more suitable candidates.
I graduated in September 2023 , and I am still looking for job , trying to upgrading myself everyday to get better.
I never regret my decision of not accepting that job. I don't know if I am getting any job or not but I am gonna be more strong and better with each passing day .
