Promotions in government jobs also have reservation so your batchmates becomes your boss in 6 years. My cousin was denied promotion at a PSU due to a reservation union lobbying to grab even more promotions than allocated.

There is no solution in sight for the reservation problem.

Whenever I read foreign media outlets, India is the new Asian Tiger that will outpace most emerging economies in growth. But Indian media and Indian people act like India is the worst place to be.

The dichotomy is extremely confusing. Why is it that foreign media coverage on our economy is more favourable than our own hopes and aspirations from this country?

PS: I am really big on Indian Exceptionalism, the belief that India's economic development and trajectory are unique or exceptional compared to other nations, driven by our large and diverse population, thriving middle class, our entrepreneurial spirit, and the emphasis on technology and innovation.

 It is just not India, you speak with natives of other countries they will not paint rosy pictures. Happiest country Finland has such gloom in population and they accept it

If true merit were a real concept, the world would be very different than it is today. Hard work isn't enough. Connections , family and network matter way more than you'd think. Bitter truth that many anti-reservation folks fail to understand still.

Thinking of taking a break for approx 1/1.5 years from tech, and trying for UPSC / PSC. Wanted to understand how hard would it be to get back in corporate after the gap ? If someone has successfully tried and can share their experience, it would be really helpful.

My parents are asking me to prepare for government exams and get enrolled in SSC coaching. I want to know what are the perks and benefits of government jobs that make people want it so badly. My parents both work for a private company, and I do not find anything wrong with working for a private firm. I like their lifestyle but they keep pushing me to go for government jobs only. What is so good about government jobs in India?

I have been thinking about reservations in jobs and also in the exam cut offs.

Reservation was given to the Scheduled Castes and Tribes because they had no land ownership and they were also oppressed throughout history. To uplift them from poverty, they were given these reservations.

I don't have a problem with this part.

Say, person X(Gen 1) who is from a SC, gets a job. He marries and has kids. His kids(Gen 2), also SC, will get jobs. These kid's father had an income, so it is not like they were extremely poor. As we move down to Gen 3, I believe they would not be poor anymore. We can say that they have been uplifted from poverty.

Should these Gen 3 kids be getting reservations in Jobs/exams? These Gen 3 kids now have money and resources and links/contacts. But still they will opt-in for the reservations. They will eat up jobs which should instead go to poor people from the SC/STs.

Also, by not ending the reservation for them, even after 3-4 generations, we are implying that no matter how much money you have, you will always be of a (so called)lower caste.

I believe Multi-Generational reservations are holding the poor people of SC/ST and India back.

I have a question which was popping since long in my mind , there are many people who go for higher studies abroad in b-schools like LBS INSEAD HEC PARIS, or ivy league at USA or some for MS CS in good colleges , After working for few years with careful financial planning and saving many of them come back to India as they have old age parents, friends and family here . Do these b-schools people get same preference as someone from IIM BLACKIS/FMS/ISB  OR as someone from IITs/Nits for higher positions based on performance or in other general things, if they are continuing job here rather going for some business/startups???

Wastage of the most energetic years of one's life, if you strech it unnecessarily. 

Aspirants should definitely try but for how long? When and where do you stop?

Why are people after 32 not allowed? They might not rank to higher positions in bureaucracy but they will have more real world experience and some expertise in certain domains that can help.

I have been trying to get in to the G for a long time now. I even have applied abroad G but here I don't seem to get even a little response. It's not like they have ghosted my application. I felt that there is something fishy going on in G which no one is talking about. I also looked at the recent free annual meetings and eventhough I am fully qualified for such, the response is not as expected and I can literally see another guy who belongs to certain BLANK is attending the meeting.

What's really happening inside G in India?? Any inside info will help me not to look for offers from that company.

Wanted to know why MNCs give priority to hire girls over deserving folks?
Got multiple calls and messages from juniors both from college and others that companies are hiring in the ratio of 8 girls to 1 boy. 

Is there any specific thing that the companies gain by this? 

Really saddened by this current scenario, first this reservation scenario, and now this diversity shit.

Seems like it is a curse to be born as a General Male in this country.

I have done my bachelor's and Mba from  distance , university approved by UGC . I cleared my interview with Accenture but during background verification and offer discussion they asked if I have done 15 years of full time education to which I explained things.
Now I am waiting for their call back.

Whatever i have read says Accenture has a strict policy to not take people who have not completed 15 years of  full time education.also in the job description they add this criteria specifically.
But in the position to which i applied it was only minimum 15 years of education (no full time education was mentioned)

Is there any exception, can someone guide.

I have 5 years of experience bdw. 

Shall I wait or not.
