I don’t see many talking about what goes inside. It would have a low performing quota for firing but I do see many long tenured folks there. Even though it’s loss making, I have read good things of its culture and massive pay. Just wondering if it’s like the best place to be in terms of pay and culture ?

I interviewed with Uber in Jan 2023, cleared all the rounds but they did not released the offer till march, so I lost hope and moved ahead. Fast forward, they reach out in Feb this year as they are hiring aggressively now. Received the offer letter based on last year interview rounds. 
Right now I’m working for a MNC as SDE 2(~5 YOE) and I’m not sure weather to join it or not. Uber is offering SE-2 for a fintech team. 

Other points:
1) cash component is 40% higher than my current org. This excludes the RSUs which Uber provides
2) various additonal perks which Uber provides like free food, wellness , insurance etc
3) WLB is great right now, not sure about it in Uber
4) Frequent Layoffs in Uber

Folks working in Uber, how is the wlb and layoffs scenario here.  Would you recommend joining?

 It was the best job out of college, status wise. 
  
 Did well in college and made it to the final shortlist. Was obsessed with it, read books and all about The Firm. 
  
 Then the interviews happened, couldn’t convert. Was a downer.  
  
 But 5 years later, doesn’t matter much. I feel life taught me better things. And my fascination of consulting jobs has changed drastically since :p

Criteria: Role
Amazon: SDE-2
Uber: SDE-2

Criteria: Compensation (including all components)
Amazon: ~65L per annum
Uber: ~65L per annum

Criteria: Team tech stack
Amazon: Java and others
Uber: Java and others

Criteria: Team culture
Amazon: Have talked with team members; it looks good unlike Amazon's toxic work culture. As per one of the team members, they usually work for ~7-8 hours per day.
Uber: Same case here (~7-8 hours per day).

Criteria: Company culture
Amazon: As you know
Uber: As you know

Criteria: Stock growth
Amazon: I expect good growth, if not, at least stable value.
Uber: Worried here, as it is highly volatile.

Criteria: Location
Amazon: Bangalore

I left the product design team of Nykaa a few days back & I foresee things going from bad to nasty. My x colleagues are telling me how a large bunch of folks are put on PIP deliberately. Almost all of them have gotten no or single digit appraisal. Just this week they are now forcing even the Tech. Employees to work from office for 5 days a week, this will ensure that a lot of people will eventually leave the company. The new CTO is just trying to bring the amazon work culture, don’t be surprised to hear some bad news about Nykaa in coming days. The fashion business is itself struggling to make business, Superstore might not make any profits anytime soon.

Looks like Zomato is at it again - quarterly layoffs (pun intended). Have come to know from a current employee that they are firing people with great skill set and work only because they are at a higher CTC and are replacing older folks with new freshers at a lower pay. Zomato never fails to surprise.

motherf*cker blew my mind when he said that they have never even touched the invested amount as he funds the company from the interest payables on the corpus through staggered payouts from debt instruments of varying risk profiles.

not sure if he’s capping or not tbh. 🤔
