A lot of noise around AI taking coding jobs, which i fear might be real. Like not completely but you get my point. So how should one upskill themselves (especially the average folks, top 1/2% will not be affected in any field imo) for the upcoming shift? Like will data analytics/science or maybe ai/ml engineering jobs be on rise ? Should be start upskilling in those fields or any other suggestions? I would really like to know it from someone who has good experience in the industry or someone with good insight. Thanks

And then to sell it on LinkedIn for getting likes.

The PMs will sound like they were just as visionary as Sam Altman who made GPT in the first place. 

And the engineers will sound like they coded GPT and will invent AGI themselves while they just integrate 2 APIs.

Saw someone commenting on a founder with 5-6 yoe hiring for 8+ yoe employee.

As founders you have to be able to hire and work with people smarter and more experienced than you, in domains that aren't even your expertise necessarily.

 It's a huge gamble for founders and involves many hiring mistakes before getting it right and locking down long term employees interested in working at least 3-5 years with some hope of ESOP exit. Most won't stick around for more than a year or two, and even founders know that very well, hence they offer realistic terms that work for them but might not work for potential employees.

The thing about good employees is that they will call you out on anything that needs improvement in the business/product point blank. They have high standards for themselves and founders both. And they bring an outsider's perspective that the core team starts losing over time unless they are involved in customer support actively.

And ofc, gotta be respectful towards them if you want them to stay and not leave too soon. But also gotta keep them in check in case they cross lines. Very difficult to balance imo.

I can only imagine how AI coworker agents will change the dynamics and team sizes in the next 5-10 years.

I have seen LLM models getting better day by day and seem to replace a lot of tedious roles that interns would do. How will this change the job market over time? Should people start learning coding to stay relevant in today's times? How will this pan out in 10 years?

Will AI increase more unemployed?

So, me and my good friend were casually discussing how crazy the job market is and how we are unable to get into a good job, especially when she has over 3YoE and is really good at frontend web development.

She then casually asked me "Should we be really trying this hard to get into a job that we like, as I feel that AI will take over a big part of the IT workforce in the next 5 years?"

Though we did have a friendly argument, I strongly believe that it still needs more time than that bcz IT jobs, especially we developers, are not just limited to coding. And given the fact that OpenAI is learning off of GitHub repos, which are basically code examples are averagely written code, not well written proficient ones. 

But, in General, what do you think about AI and how it is gradually dominating the IT sector ?

Do you really think AI will take over in the next 5 years ?

As a lot of news and post are popping out nowadays, threatening job to be replaced by AI.

So ,can you guys please suggest whether we should be learning AI or some other tools than traditional programming...e.g Salesforce, Servicenow,SAP etc.

The AI Engineer, is the next new thing according to what I am hearing from top Leaders. One is involved in working with AI APIs and open-source models to productise AI capabilities. 

AI tasks that can now be accomplished with ease, thanks to the availability of foundation models and APIs. It also touches on the challenges in evaluating, applying, and productizing AI.

AI Engineer is the new role to get. The title is on the rise. I have been interviewing and a lot of companies seem to hire AI Engineers compared to ML Engineers now. 

OpenAI has changed the game since models and APIs has significantly reduced the time and resources required to accomplish AI tasks, making it easier for AIx to work with these technologies. This is the greatest thing ever in the history of mankind. 

We had room sized computers in 1960s that could only compute simple calculations. Now you have a more powerful computer in your microwave.

Now imagine, the day you can run GPT4 on your smartphone. The compute will get their with miniaturization of compute or offloading to cloud. We need more AI Engineers, please reach out to me in DMs please. People whose companies laid off people due to AI. What kind of automations made it possible?
Is AI actually doing the work or is it just an excuse to lay off people?

Have met few founders in the last few months they have reduced tech teams to 20-30% of original teams and the rest team is mandated to use AI tools to improve efficiency of tech and speed of execution. The cost of their operations have improved. AI first and assistive approach people are following instead of old tech development ways. 

Happy to hear more such cases and how they are operating. As this is going to be a new way of operating in the near future for companies.
