Context: 10.5 YOE, Marketing lead. I've been looking for a switch since September last year. I'd seen signs of maybe my role or the company itself folding very early and knew 'twas time to bolt. But it's not that easy. Back then - 1 year in a startup meant hey not bad, people still spoke to you and considered your profile. These days, they treat you like Ebola if you've not had your ass stuck in the same place for 3-5 years. Anyway, so the majority of my time searching for jobs was the shitty Easy Apply or IIMJOBS premium account route. Suprise suprise. It doesn't work. But hey I was still employed and not nearly as motivated as someone who's unemployed. Cut to layoffs: Got laid off with my whole team and a huge chunk of other leaders. My first layoff, felt hilariously like the last day of school. To the org's credit they gave us 3 month severance, leave encashments and extra months for those who'd been there for 2 years+. In hindsight hearing the horror stories of 2k severance from Byju's. I'm grateful for the nice golden parachute I got. I'll be honest, it contributed heavily to my mental stability. I had time, I had leverage, I didn't have to run for the first shitty opportunity that came my way. The How I did it (why you struggled through the above stream of consciousness) - Wrote to 159 founders with one pagers to 35 of them with ideas on how i'd lead their marketing function. 5 replies. 3 interviews. 2 offers - didn't take em cuz they were super early stage or diff cities. This is immediately in month 1 so I've already started feeling icky about not getting great brands to have in my set. - Easy Applied to 768 (I ran a Gmail search, this is a real number) jobs. 99% no responses or you've been rejected. -Kept changing one letter on my Naukri.com profile, got me 6 calls, 3 interviews and 1 conversion I think theres a word limit to posts 🥲 following up as comments below.

I am a fresher and applied to a ton of jobs during my college days and still applying the only thing which takes me back is the amount of rejection i have to face. Facing rejection is not a problem but being the most ideal candidate * which I feel like , after seeing the job profile * and still not getting selected makes me introspect am I that bad. After seeing people who have a lesser core fundamental knowledge on topics getting in good companies just because they had a good referral makes me question that is the only chance of getting a job through Referrals ? So i have a question for the community, Is the job space only based on referrals or is there any chance of getting into the company naturally especially through job boards ? My background : I am a graduate in B Tech. CSE with Specialization in Cloud Computing. I have a good amount of experience with the AWS cloud. I have an interest in working in the area of Cloud Security and DevOps.

Is recruiting designers directly from competitors a smart business move?

I desperately disappointed hunting jobs from last one year although I have one year experience in java receiving rejected mails ! Any one suggest to make best resume which passes ATS test !

Dear Recuriters, What fun you get in ghosting candidates? If you have no answers from your management you can inform the same. Now don’t say you have lot of job to do. Candidate experience is also your job isn’t it.

Women who have rejoined rat race after pregnancy I have ultimate respect for you. Pregnancy is not easy. Post paturm is not easy. Working a job while having a new born baby is definitely not easy. But if your answers are about this, rather than the skills I am hiring for, how do I make a judgement if you can do the job? I think bit of it stems from them feeling left out, guilty of taking a break. Why can't they view it as a challenging phase of life and focus on their individuality. Easier said than done, but sincerely HR who doesn't know if I can hire you

Hello Grapeviners, What is with Indian recruiters wanting to know your CTC as the very first step of hiring? And when asked to share the ctc range in which the role falls, they refuse to share. So basically they just want to lowball candidates based on their current CTC and parity is a joke? Now If a recruiter denies sharing the range for the role and insists on knowing my CTC, I run! What are your thoughts?
