Hi I am looking to up-skill and have been looking up various data science courses. To boot- I am into credit underwriting and risk management. Recently have joined a fintech in risk. 
Since underwriting risk entails a lot on economy data and industry data and understanding the underlying patterns i believe it is pivotal, I understand the data parlance. 
So hence looking for suitable courses.
NB: I have no knowledge of coding or data science.I know hopeless right! Though never say never( not a beiber fan though) 🙀

I was talking to my friend who is doing his PhD. from University of Maryland, College Park and I asked him what should a new learner of Statistics learn so that they can add value to their job from Day 1.

He suggested me this book that he learnt initially from. I went through this book in the entirety of last year, and started to contribute more. I even started working on open-source datasets and contributed to several papers in leading journals.

I'm currently pursuing my B.TECH in bioinformatics  ( 2nd yr) and I want to ustilize my time of vacations to upskill myself in the area which I find intersiting. After talking to some data analyst on linkden (some of them pivoted to this role from non-tech background, rest had done their b.tech or masters in statistics and then pivoted to D.A). Thus,I thought to give it a try by doing some course. I wanted general opnions about the courses provided by these institutions, is Excelr Thane's data analytcis course worth it? I have a Liberal Arts background with my focus always in Social Impact. Recently, I did a management degree and pivoted into a generalist role - working at a social enterprise as part of the CEO's Office.

Unfortunately, I am not getting any analytical work or a single chance to play around with data. But I want to do so, and desperately. 

What kind of resources will you recommend me to get better with data analytics? 

I have already zeroed on doing an Advanced Excel Certificate (as revision), also keen on doing Six Sigma Certification from LinkedIn (just to better my basics and start thinking analytically).

Need Help To Be Strong in Analytics

I need some advice. 

1. I am a fresher and am considering giving the CAT exam this year. 
2. Currently working as a data science intern and frankly, not enjoying it a bit. I dread debugging. I also feel everyday that AI can easily do 75% of my work. 
3. I want some business side roles, thinking I won't have to stare at a screen all day, fixing bugs. 

What roles can I expect after doing a MBA, is it worth the extra 2 years and the money, and if you are someone who can relate to my situation, what are some of the things you enjoy about your work and some things which you absolutely hate. 

I might have completely wrong expectations, so please feel free to correct me.

This question is for people who have been in this field (any form of analytics) for a few years.

My background (You can skip to the next section and jump back for reference here):
Role: Data Scientist/Analyst
Tech stack: Python (ML), SQL, Tableau
YOE: 2 years
Work: Started here as a fresher. Being in a service based company, we offer analytics solutions. I have worked to create a clients data pipeline(No code tool), to maintaining it, creating dashboards (Primary task) and ML models (Based on any major change in metrics).
Salary: On the lower spectrum (Definitely!)

Reason for this post:
I would call myself good with tools but lacks industry knowledge and the maturity to actually be in analytics. I do decent, but I have to depend on my manager sometimes to understand the business and provide correct solutions. But I guess that is how it is in case of any fresher starting out?

Question:
Is pursuing a 2 year MBA (Targetting only Tier 1 colleges) a good idea for someone who is already working in analytics for 3 years (by the time I join an MBA program)?
Please share your thoughts.

Context to the question:
I've discussed with someone who did their MBA and works in analytics for a bank now. And according to them, the best way to progress in analytics is to choose a domain and stick to it. And to reset my career, I should do an MBA. This will help me get an understanding of all the domains, improve my soft skills (and time management, etc.) and also give me a good place to start fresh. And they say it will help me in the future as well, as it gives me a very good alumni network.

I'm considering this because of my ability to network has not been that great and also to get the domain knowledge they said I'll be getting. But is it really worth it considering I lose 2 years salary, and salary growth and also have to spend a big amount.

Need Help to be Analytically Strong

I am probably earning 2x of what an average T-1 MBA grad makes in India. I'm just not happy in my role and this SDE grind caught me lackin'.

Can you help me determine whether it is still a good bet to get an MBA? Because these normie MBA folks are literally the dumbest people I have seen and I think I can do a better job than them.

Earning 2x of a Tier-1 MBA grad already. Should I still do an MBA?

I joined an MBA program while I was making close to the average salary of post MBA grads. 
  
 Few things to remember: 
  
 1. Opportunity cost of a 2 year MBA is humongous. The PGP at IIMs will cost you a crore+. Imagine trying to get an ROI on it. 
  
 2. PGP at IIMs are filled with freshers and low work experience folks which naturally means there are very few senior roles on offer. So you may not find the right level after MBA. 
  
 3. It's best to restrict yourself to 1 year programs like ISB's PGP and IIM's PGPX. 
  
 4. Be really sure of what you want from the MBA. You can easily switch to SDM or product roles without MBA. Recommend giving that a shot if you are just tired of SDE
